Title: My first Ice fish..
Post by: bshaner on February 21, 2007, 10:19:57 AM
I went ice fishing last saturday with my dad.  Now, I hate the cold and I've sworn up and down that you would never catch me sitting on the ice holding a pole and shivering my butt off.

One thing you just cant do in life is deny quality fishing with your father, no matter what kind of fishing it is.

He loves to fish and happens to live in a cottage on a small lake up in Kalkaska so when I took the family up for the weekend it wasnt any surprise that we ended up ice fishing.

I ended up catching my first ever fish through the ice that was an impressive 4" bluegill!!!!  This proves that anything can feel like a monster when fishing with 2# mono on a rod no longer than my forearm!!!

So, one more thing I can check off my list of things I've done in one lifetime.

Congratulations on the big catch. I used to think of ice fishing as something I can do part-time to pass winter. However, now I'm a complete addict.
