Title: Water pump impeller
Post by: Redbone on March 21, 2013, 10:06:09 AM
I read that it was recommended to change this every year. I have not changed mine in the 4 years I have owned my current boat.

Who does this yearly? Biyearly? Or who has been using the same one for years?

If you run in the shallows alot I would change it out every year....Sand takes them out in short order...

I primarily run on LSC so I am very rarely in Shallow water so I change mine out every other year and watch the pressure closely...

Most Mercury Mechanics reccommend at least a new impeller every 100 hours or so...

It is an awful inexpensive part that if not working correctly can do some very expensive damage...better safe than sorry..
