I really enjoyed getting together with you guys last year after the Fishing Show, and think that we should plan on doing it again.
It's good to get this conversation going now so we can get a little bit better turnout in 2013. Before or after the Novi show would be good I think.
I agree buddy. If we start thinking about it now, maybe we can even get UAW B/D there this year ;D

Has anyone given this idea any more thought? I am probably going to the show on Saturday and would love to meet up with some of you guys for a bite to eat before the show.
Me an my crew probably won't be there till around noon or so... 2+ hour drive so we don't normally stick around afterwards either.
Bummer, cause it is a nice opportunity to get to meet face to face. Especially with you West-siders!

Working the GLB booth friday and saturday nights so I'm no good between 4p-8p either day. Anytime before or after that is great though.
Well, I know that I brought this up, but it looks like the only day I will likely have available to go is Sunday. I was hoping to go Thursday and Saturday, but I don't think that my schedule is going to allow it.
Just realized we didn't get together. I'm a little out of it this winter. You guys want to do a makeup date in February? I know the swap meet is in February, but that's no reason not to get together anyway.
I am bummed that we were not able to get together also. I had a work issue that weekend, that made it impossible for me to get out to the show. Oh well, guess I saved a few bucks.

I'm up for February. I'm sorry we couldn't pull something off in January. It's been pretty busy around here. Let's make it happen. Here's a crazy idea...how about Valentine's Day? We can all take our significant others out with us or a nice dinner. But we don't have to make it "romantic". That way guys without wives won't feel uncomfortable coming along. Is that a weird idea? Or maybe we can shoot for Saturday, the 16th. I'm free that night. How about we do something fun? I went to Bath City Bistro in Mt. Clemens a week ago and did feather bowling. That was a lot of fun. Of if someone has an idea more suited to the west siders, bring it on.
Could go out friday the 15th since that's my birthday...
My wife and I have plans at our church on Valentines day, but we might be available Friday night.
You need a 'pick a date and place' committee that just announces a date and time, and then people that can make it, make it. For a number of years now, that seems to be the best way over all to try to make things happen with everyone being so busy.
I would love to make more things myself. I am glad to see various members and frequent visitors of this website get together for all the various activities. That's important to me even if I don't make a lot of the events myself. My goal is to add 1 or 2 more to my own schedule each year too. I keep a watch on what you all come up with in case I can add this one in too. I always enjoy seeing and talking to the people I have met on this website! Thanks!
I was really bummed that I couldnt make it to the get together / grill out last year. I know thats not what this discussion is about but this is my senior year in high school and I just may be able to use that as a good enough excuse to get with you all. And on a side note I am 100% positive my grandpa would love to do this as well. Would you all be interested in doing that again?
Actually now that you mention the cookout part, maybe we should do something opening weekend of C&R? Far enough in the future we can plan a bit and get schedules cleared up. Checked the DNR's website and that's last Saturday in April. What do you guys think?
I'm with ya. Great idea. If we don't set a solid date, it's never gonna happen, so this sounds really good to me. Opening weekend would be great. Last Saturday in April...where to launch? I normally launch at 11 Mile that time of year. I could see if I can get more boats in that day since I'm a resident. But I'm not sure where we can hang out after if we launch there. We could do Harley or even Metro Beach if we want to hang at the park after and maybe BBQ. Thoughts?
I'll leave where to launch to people familiar with the lake. BBQ sounds good. Burgers and dogs again. Somewhere with a shelter at least in case the weather is less than kind.
April 27th is the date, who's in?
I'm there. Regarding the launch. We have a few options. Any of the launches can work, then we could go to Metro Beach for the BBQ. Or, we could launch there to save the hassle, but is is a little more expensive to launch there. Another option would be to see if there is a picnic area at the point where the 11 Mile launch is located. I'm not sure. I know people shore fish out there but not sure about the a picnic area. I can go ask. Another option is to launch at the Cutoff Ramp or 11 Mile Ramp and see if we can get in to Memorial Park afterwards. I'm a resident, so I think I can get people in there without any problems. Again, I'll ask and find out.
How's the fishing that time of year out there lol!

Yo, bring your foul weather gear. LOL. I hope this crappy weather clears up by next weekend. I'm still planning on being there even if Ypsi and I are the only ones. ;D Hey Rick, wanna fish with me or one of the other guys who signed up? LOL. Come on guys, I know there are lots of bros and sisters out there who plan to fish the opener on the best Smallie lake in the world, so come join us. We'll be launching at 11 Mile ramp to make it easy to get on the Mile Roads. Regarding a BBQ, I'd like to suggest something different since it's looking like a small crowd. It's a tradition of mine to have lunch after fishing at this little diner right by the ramp called Lake Breeze. They make good Walleye. That way I get to eat fish even if I have a lousy day of fishing. (if there is such a thing) How about we do it the easy way and save the BBQ for the fall when we can get more people to come. Rick, I'm gonna PM you an idea about that.

If you want the TL;DR version: I had a great time fishing with Revtro. Wished we could have got more people together from the CAB, but maybe in the fall we can get more interest.
Keep picking a date and then sticking to it. It may not work perfect or even well but you 2 got out. Everyone is so 'busy, busy.' :)
Pick a date and then link the post to the calendar too. That makes it a little more noticeable.
This will give me more push to figure out in my new design how I make things easier for everyone.
