Family members may be able to fish together. I would prefer family members 18 and older be a registered member of GreatLakesBass.com. I will not request that of family members under 18 and prefer not to have family members under 13 register due to federal regulations. If you have a family member that wants to fish but not be a member, please contact me privately prior to the event. Youth 17 years or younger must be participating with a parent or legal guardian. Exceptions to this will need to be discussed with me in advance. Use the contact information above please.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Nonboaters please bring life jackets to make sure we have enough. Life jackets must be worn zipped and/or buckled whenever the gas motor is running. Boater must use working kill switch when gas motor is running.
No live bait, artificials only.
I try to make sure there are as few boats as possible with no one that knows the water. I can have a mini-seminar before we launch on where to fish for people who ask for it. This is an event where we want to see everyone catch some fish!
This event is all about everyone catching some fish, having fun and getting to know each other, and also to honor the memory one of our greatest members - David MadWags Wagensomer!!! Thank you for being members of GreatLakesBass.com.
If you have anything new or like new you'd like to donate for prize giveaways, please contact (http://glbass.com/contact) me.
Post that you are attending, and if attending as a boater or nonboater in this thread please. It is easier for me to keep track if your status is in this thread. Thanks!
I'm in. I'm going to say nonboater, but we will see when it is closer.
Well... you're number 1! And... number 1000! :)
Oh you know I'm in. Probably a non-boat at this point.
I'm awesome like that. ;D
I'm in as non-boater again. Keep having to put off the boat year after year :(
You can count on me. In as a boater. We'll see about my #1 fishing partner. I'll try not to lose a grill on the way this time. Start planning on food again. We'll do a menu at a later time.
im coming and so is my boat
Of course I am in. Non Boater.
Im in boater
i'm in as a boater
Count me in as a non boater. Always good to fish this event.
I'm in as a boater with my sister-in-law Laura and nephew Andrew. We won't count Andrew's fish. He usually only catches sheepheads and tangles all my line - but we have fun!
Just because you said that, Terry, He'll be the one to catch a 6 lb'er. LOL

What ya gettin?
A Z-9. To good of an offer to turn it down.
Woohoo I'm already off work for that weekend. Count me in. Not sure if I'll be a boater or not. May carpool with TritonTr20 if he can make it. We'll have to decide which boat to bring. :)

Purple? I might be color blind but I really thought my last one was yellow!
See... everyone just told you it was yellow. :D
Which half are you talking about?
Dan, I may end up bringing my boat for this one. There is a particular area I REALLY want to fish, and most people are reluctant to go there, from what I have seen. I will let you know for sure when you start getting serious about who's doing what.
I also have a feeling that someone we know is going to want to be in my boat if I bring it. Right, Mike?
;D
See what I mean?
I'm In! Jeff..I guess it my turn to bring the boat!

Shouldn't it be the 2K Tilted Jigskirt? Hmmm... sounds like a good name for your next new bait Dan!

If the water doesn't come up muskamoot will be impossible to get in or especally out.
I will have to get an air boat then. Problem solved. Don't need a livewell anyways.
I can't come get anyone unstuck. Just remember that... and don't get hurt or wreck anything!! Please.
I know where there are usually some nice fish shallow but my boat can't be replaced (assuming I have it back and the truck fixed by then) and I'm not risking someone elses boat to go after them. There's plenty of fish to catch without busting props (I already have a ding from the last time I tried), knocking off lower units, getting the boat stuck, punching a hole in something or flipping someone out of the boat.
Do any of that... and you will probably miss the cookout!
PS - remember no talking on this forum about fishing (or 'scouting') parts of the lake that are out of season. When we bring Michigan and Ontario into the Modern Age of no closed seasons, we can talk about all that plenty then! (It will happen - just going to take a lot of writing, sitting in a number of boring meetings and listening to a fair amount of crazy talk and 'untruths' passed off as 'science.')
I'm in as non-boater if I don't have to work. Have to wait and see though.

We are in luck. I happen to know a guy that has expertise in pushing boats off of sandbars. A 20' Skeeter with the motor trimmed all the way up, and the jackplate all the way up takes 3 people to push it off the sandbar. That's even with the boat tipped to one side because the water is just that shallow. An 18' Nitro takes a 12' aluminum boa and a 10 horse outboard to get to shore from the mouth of a river. Don't ask how I know these things. Just lessons I have "heard".
I have faith. The water will be up, and it will be game on. If not, the trick will be really long casts.
Sign me up as a boater.
In ..... Boater
Can we wade in Muskamoot? Beach the boat and get out!
Did somebody say beach the boat? I can do that!
I am in as a non-boater.
Its official Ill be bringing my boat. I was told it will be shipped within the next week
Somebody has to be chomping at the bit. I'm waiting to take delivery of my new pontoon, and I'm going nuts. I would really be going crazy waiting on a new bass rig.
It wouldn't be so bad if I had a boat setting in my garage but since I have nothing its really killing me.

No sunglasses on this one. Its silver and gunmetal so it will look like most other boats and yes a Z-9 got word saturday while I was working at basspro it was around a week from being shipped to Michigan.

Forgot to mention I will have a few Okuma rods and reels there, for anyone to check out before or after the tournament. I also sent a email to them, to see if they could provide any promotional items to give away, cant promise anything for sure yet....but always thinking of my glb friends, and this great get together.

You may think you want to run back there but who's gonna tow you back?! It's probably gonna be too skinny for most ppl to risk a lower unit. Just be careful.
I'm in: boater
You are probably right Scott. I'm prepared for not getting in there. But, I do have an inside source, and I can always dream. Besides, I could buy my son some waders, and make him pull the boat in and out. ???
We'd all hate to see a "fun" day go bad due to preventable breakdowns, too many other great spots to hit, or not hit something, you know what I mean. ;D
I hear that. I won't do anything stupid. If my son is with me, which I'm sure he will be, I want to see him catch a big one. More so than I want to get a big one. Hope we have nice weather.
Count me in as a non boater, rider. Thanks to Mike for pointing this out to me.
I will be there as a boater
im in for a non-boater unless someone buys my boat and i win the lottery...haha
For the official count, I'm going as a boater. My 13 year old son Bryce is going to be there too, depending on the weather. I am planning on having another member fish with us as well. I will have to see if he still wants to. If not, you can put us in the draw and we will take whoever.
I'm in! :) Can bring the boat if needed, but I'll plan to go as a non-boater for now. (I've got exactly zero Spring fishing experience on St. Clair)
I don't remember it I signed up or not but I am going as a boater.
Cy
Veronica and I are still planning on being there. I have to check on flights.
They fly planes everyday Mike. All over the country. No excuses. Lol!!
Bring your boat - we always need boaters and Dan gives people spots to hit. You can even follow him or anyone else for that matter.
Spring time on St. Clair is pretty simple - jerkbait/rattletrap up shallow.

Do I win a prize for that?
If I can make it now, I won't be able to bring my boat over. If there's not enough boaters, I will sit this one out. Unfortunate change, but that's how it has to be. My boy won't be going with me if I go.
As long as nothing changes drastically,I am in as a boater. Not sure if I will bring one (or more) of my kids or not.
I have learned a few new things in the past couple of days. 1) I need to get myself on medication to mellow me out. 2) I need to learn to slow down and not be so fast to make decisions and put stupid posts on GLB. 3) I will be at Lake St Clair on May 11th, Skeeter in tow, my son and Mr. Ozinga with me. Finall answer. I'm done messing with you now Dan.

Non-boater fishing with Bassfan586

Some of us come from a pretty good distance and share rides together. Gear is already in the boat, etc... it's just easier in some instances to fish with who brought you if you are a non-boater. For the more local guys it's a lot easier to just jump into a boat... can be a little difficult especially if us west siders are running a little late or something.

I'm an attention hungry person. It has been total chaos for me lately. I can't stand the thought of not going over there. I will make it work. By the way, thanks for the attention.
Mike took all the attention from me for not showing up this spring. What gives????
Dan - my sister-in-law can't make it due to work this year. I will bring my nephew but I will have room for a non-boater to fish with me this year. My nephew will go along for the ride and won't count his fish in the tournament weights!
Thanks, T-Bone
Has there been any lists started for the BBQ? I will bring a cooler full of pop.
Does anyone know the current count of anglers? I'm trying to get some sample packs of baits and need a count...
I'd be willing to bring the donuts this year too!
Dan- if there is anything I can do to help out or if there's anything you need me to bring just let me know
Yes, please let me know what is needed for bbq afterwards
Deep diver there is a new rod limit in effect this year. 3 rods. Dan I am available to fit 3 guys in my boat so long as deep diver leaves the ultrlights at home
Without MSmith we will need a grill and a grill man.
I want to be there, but both kids have games that day. I will consult and let you know. If I am able to attend, I'd be a boater.
put me down as a boater dan.
Also - hoekset will be going as a non-boater. maybe vice-versa - we'll both be there and one of us will have the boat.

Good News Ed. Glad you are going to make it! All you really need are Xtreme Bass Tackle tubes, St Clair Crayfish, Triple Threat, Formula G3 & Canadian Mist and some 1/4 $ 3/8 tube jigs. Bring a couple a traps, gold, red, purple, etc and a couple square bills. That's all you need. You will have a great time.
You can ride over with us if you want Ed. Plenty of room.

Okay... now that we have had enough drama for a week of daytime soaps!!!
I guess I will put together a list of boaters and nonboaters - see where we are at. (I will be writing some names in pencil... and at least 1 name just in sand, or the dust on my dash... ;D)
As far as a cookout, I don't have a large grill. I have a couple 8' plastic tables. Until I go back through all the posts 1 more time, I was thinking mikesmiph wants to make the event but the grill may be out for him? Maybe, maybe not? My memory is not to be trusted. Regardless, if we are going to take a shot at a cookout I'm starting a new thread to see if we can actually make that happen.
I hope to have counts for boaters and nonboaters by late Sunday evening. I will be asking for donations too. I'm late on that though some people have pro-actively donated stuff or mentioned they are bringing stuff with them. If you can arrange that with one of the sponsor advertisers or another friendly company, please do that and send me a note. BIG HELP - that kind of stuff! Thanks!
PS: I see a number of mentions that the water appears to be up already from the near record lows of this winter. Just remember - this is supposed to be fun so have fun by being safe! Pushing bass boats leaning on their sides off of clay-gook mixtures is not my idea of fun! Lets leave that for the Bassmasters!!! ;D
Sitting in Venice Italy this morning. As.long.as.I.get home by Wednesday and my boat floats and.runs I will be there. Do I get the longest distance travelled award.
Looks like I will be there. Not sure yet about Veronica. I will bring my boat, if it starts when I get home. If veronica doesn't come, I'll have an empty seat. I wouldn't mind helping with the food, but I won't have time to gather everything and bring grills and such. A lot more "if's" for Dan to figure out. LOL

I wouldn't mind helping with the food, but I won't have time to gather everything and bring grills and such. A lot more "if's" for Dan to figure out. LOL
If you make it to Michigan, show up however you can. I didn't think the grill was doable with everything else going on. We'll make it work or eat cold cuts or something.
Dan Can you please post start and finish times

Everything you need to know about the event is in the very first post at the beginning of this thread. Let's leave it there so the important stuff is all in one place and consistent: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=16036.0 (http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=16036.0)

I may take you up on that again if I may? I don't think I've made other plans and I won't have my truck fixed by this weekend so I was just going to drive the mini-car.
... and it is a mini car ... geesh!

You took your boat apart?!?
Getting new electronics (not arrived yet), fixing pumps and bilge things, etc. Had some fiberglass work done and need to do some detailing to make it all smooth and shiny again, etc.

?? Aaron already has 2 adult anglers in his boat - 2 newer members who haven't been to St. Clair yet I believe is what he told me? Are you sure about this? I can get you in a boat that doesn't have 4 adults in it if you want to fish?? Aaron did say he can take 4 but he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to and you can fish with 3 or 2 instead?
I may end up with an extra boat even if all the boaters show up, my other 2 confirm and some of them don't bring the family members (because it is supposed to be colder Saturday ...of course).
Aaron had a guy back out so he had called me an asked me if I could fill in for one of them. If that's ok with you. He said just sign up an he contact you. I can have him contact you or what ever you need Dan. Just let me know. You can call me anytime at 269-331-1059. Thanks Dan

Okay. Please have him send me a message so I know who canceled. I want to keep the lists of who is coming and how many up-to-date for a number of reasons. Thanks.
