Just got word the Michigan Federation state championship that was slated for Charlevoix in 2007 has been moved back to St. Clair. Haven't heard why yet, probably another typical participation issue...but I hate to speculate. More info as it arrives.
Well maybe I just had bad information at first??
As posted on the Lk. St. Clair Network website:

State Championship scheduled for Aug 24 & 25th
Northern Divisional scheduled for Aug 12-17th
??? What are we fishing for in the state championship if the divisional is already over ???
I am new to the Federation so I am probably missing something, but this doesn't make sense.
The Northern Div. is for the guys that made the team in Saginaw this year. Always been how they have done it.
The Classic series has been set for June 2nd & 3rd and August 4th & 5th. No word on location as of the Dec. Meeting. Format has been changed to team-draw. 1st day you fish you & partner, 2nd day you fish you & draw partner. Also entry fees have been reduced to $50 a day per angler.
BASS divisionals are fished by the state team the year after you qualify because they want us to have our state championship in April and we can't do that in Michigan. With the Classic Series in the past and our short season, the federation didn't make it a habit to have a state championship earlier in the summer so the state team could fish the divisional the same year. Their 2007 state team won't fish their divisional until Aug/Sep 2008.
That's why with no other tournaments, TBF of Michigan is having an earlier summer state championship so our state team fishes their divisional the same year. Our 2007 state team from the (probably) 7/8/07 TBF state championship on Lake St. Clair will fish their divisional in Ohio - Sandusky Bay in September 2007.
Our 2008 state team will fish in MICHIGAN at their divisional in September 2008. I always hated having to wait a year to fish the divisional.
I was actually looking forward to going up to Lake Charlevoix. I have never been there. Anyway, Lake St. Clair ain't all bad ya know.........

So you fish in your club one year, to qualify to fish in the state championship the next year, to qualify to fish in the divisional the next-next year, to qualify to fish in the federation Chamionship the next-next-next year.
Makes sense to me.... :o :o :o
SAY WHAT??? Now you got me all confused. At this point what year is it???
BD ;D
By George, I think you've got it! ;D
We just need to shorten winter by a couple months...
Another conflict with the BFL which is going out of Elizabeth Park. Looks like I am going to have to find them on Erie. I love fishing the river in August, but it is tough when there is 100 boats in there. I had it almost all to myself this year and it was wonderful. Oh well, it will cut my running time down a little if the wind doesn't blow ;D.
rufus, at least this year when i draw you, i may actually see you catch a decent fish, i ve been disappointed the last 2 times i ve been paired with you, having to drag the river with u for 6 hours and only catching 2lbers. u tell me all these stories about erie, yet i get stuck riding up to the river with you :) cant wait to draw you again in next years super tournament, josh.
Josh,
I didn't want to have to tell you this now, but I have been sandbagging you when I draw you in BFL's. I just don't want a young guy like you getting a big head so I always leave all those 5 and 6 pounders alone. Besides, aren't 2 pounders worth a 50 mile run ;D? If you believe that I just wanted to let you know that I have the Bluewater and Ambassador bridge for sale. ;) It would be nice to draw you again and then, we have improved our weights each time so the thrid time should be a charm. God Bless and see you next year!
You gotta watch those young guns...
Just read some dates for the classic series from a post on the michiganbass message board.
June 2,3 Lake Charlevoix
August 4,5 Lake Wixom
An unusual schdule compared to what were used to. Hopefully it works out.
