Title: Cleaning Livewells
Post by: StarBoard7 on August 05, 2012, 02:04:23 PM
Hey guys,

I was hoping to get some tips for cleaning out my live wells.
I'm just not sure what I should or should not use or do.

Standard Ranger Live Wells.

Thanks for any tips guys.

been finding lots of crawfish bits in the bottom of mine.  I clean out around the screens.  Put the wells on recirculate.  Put in a couple gallons of water and a cup of bleach.  Run the pumps for a while and drain it out.

Make sure you keep the screens clean and completely open.

I used to run through some of the baitwell cleaner a few times a year too, or as needed. Worked well for me. I only used bleach if I had any concerns I was going to be on an inland water right after being on the Great Lakes (VHS virus and other possible bad characters).

If  you run bleach through, I'd suggest you have a day or two to air it out with the lids open or run water only through it for 5 to 10 minutes.
