I had the privilege of taking my uncle out yesterday.  He is really struggling with his health, so I was glad to spend some quality time on the water.  We got out at 7 and it was pretty windy, but nothing we couldn't manage.  The weather indicated the wind would shift, so I anticipated things calming down.  Well it didn't happen.  The wind stayed out of the North and only picked up speed.  It got tougher and tougher to fish and the ride back to the ramp was kind of a drag.

The fishing was slow.  We fished our way down toward Detroit, hitting several areas that have been fishing pretty well lately.  Even though we had a big drift sock out, we were still being blown downlake pretty quickly.  At one point we made the decision to move in a bit shallower, mainly to get out of the rollers.  This turned out to be a good decision.  We hit about 11.5FOW and the fishing turned on.  We didn't catch a lot of big ones though.  As usual, this more recent wave of late spawners seem to be smaller fish.  We managed a couple around 3lbs, but most were barely keepers, some rockies, and several small fish.

With the chop and lower visibility, I switched up to an Xtreme St. Clair Craw which has a little more chartreuse in it.  My uncle was fishing the Triple Threat and wasn't getting bit.  But I was on every cast there for a while.  So I switched his tube up and BAM, a 3lber.  He got several others before we called it an early day because of the waves.  We made the slow ride back to the ramp and decided to fish for largemouth in the canal on our way in.  We hooked up with several keeper largemouth and fished the canal for about an hour, which ended up being a pretty nice ending to a pretty tough morning of fishing.  I hope for calmer water next time.
