Hello all,
Can anyone recommend a good grease to use for mercury outboard motors?
Specifically for the ports on a 1996 200hp xri/efi 2 stroke?
I figured I'd just go with mercury or quicksilver cartridges but I have read really really good reviews ln Royal Purple.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks
quicksilver 2-4-C. It's factory recommended, no need to go "exotic" and spend more money on the RP.
Waterfoul is right on the money; unless you're looking for bits of further performance in a specific area, stick with 2-4-C.
Besides, 2-4-C is pretty good stuff, use it on a lot of things.
I will be doing this to my motor today! The above comments sound like the most recommended.
I ended up using quicksilver. It was 5 bucks cheaper. It had the pump/oil combo and with the merc brand I had to buy it separately. Make sure you replace the rings on the screws. Mine were pretty rough looking. The last person to do this just left the old ones on and put the new ones on top? :o
Oooohh. That is NOT good. As you get a little older too, make sure they are there when you put the bolt back in! If you don't look through the right part of your trifocals you can drop that little sucker and not see it is missing. That doesn't work real good either!
