Title: out of state fisherman needing help
Post by: skeeter6217 on May 10, 2012, 12:58:52 PM
Guys-
I live in Indiana and my mother lives in Traverse City. I'm heading up to the bay around Memorial Day and I'm totally confused with the fishing regulations in Michigan. I want to fish for smallies when I'm up there but I'm not sure it's legal. I've read through the posts but I'm still not sure if I can fish prior to Memorial Day or even after Memorial Day. Any input would be helpful.

it's legal. currently it's catch and release, memorial day will be opening weekend for catch and keep. there are some special restrictions around the islands way out, but i'm guessing you won't be going that far.
