Title: Lake Erie Fishing Trip
Post by: PABassfish on May 03, 2012, 06:55:59 PM
Hey I'm from Pennsylvania and When we make our trip up to Lake st. Claire this July were looking to stop at lake Erie for 3 days. We were looking to fish on the Canada side, and found a campground in the Bay of the Big Creek wildlife refuge. Anyone fish this area of Erie? Or any other spot suggestions?? We like smallmouth bass but would enjoy walleye too.
Thanks, Mike

What is the closest Canadian city to that? Sounds familiar but I'm not sure where it is.

Are you state side ,or Canadian side? If your travelling state side. Port Clinton Ohio, and fish Bass Islands. Don't forget to fish out of Erie Metro Park Mich. This is were Lake Erie meets the Detroit River. I envy you. Good luck!

Its the bay of long point. Near the town of Norfolk on the Canadian side. Its in the bay of long point wildlife area and long point provincial park. Were debating over staying there or in Rondeau bay on the canadian side. ANy suggestions on the fishing in these areas?

I have never personally been there but I have seen the picture of giant walleye from Long Point. They both have great reputations for bass. I believe Long Point has largemouth and smallmouth bass. VinceR on here has some experience on Rondeau Bay and has always talked about how much he likes fishing that area. Not sure how long it has been since he's been there. I can check.

After checking my Erie charts, those areas are in the central and eastern basins of the lake. I have heard about the great bass fishing there but have never experienced it. I have been fishing Erie for years but have no experience on any water past Point Pelee along Erie's north shore. I have fished plenty from the Maumee River to Buffalo on the U.S. side or south shore of the lake. I will put those areas on my hit list for future adventures. Just another place to go before I die.
