Post by: customfishn on April 15, 2012, 12:42:45 PM
Can someone tell me if Morels are up yet near Grand Rapids?  I usually do pretty good with the "whites" but have been looking for sometime and havnt found anything.

I do not know about the GrandRapids area. Lots of morels are being found north east of Lansing and near Weberville. I have seen  a few in my parks here in Livonia near Detriot.

I fished the Tippy Monday and Tuesday. I talked to some people in Brethren. They told me that the mushrooms came early this year and looked tall and thin ,said just did not look right!

All the local people we talked to in Kalkaska said. that the Morels are plentiful this year.  It is not uncommon to find several dozen at a time. Nice ones  to boot.
