Title: Hank Parker fishing Traverse Bay
Post by: dartag on February 18, 2012, 08:50:04 AM
sitting here watching Hank fishing the bay in early June.  There are ice fishermen in front of the house this morning.  It is a cruel world we live in.  I need to go fishing.

I watched that last week.  I also just booked my room for the 4th of July.  I cant wait to go up north and fish the same spots that Hank was fishing on the show.  One of my favorite places to fish when just fun fishing!

My family have a cottage up there just outside of the city. I've been fishing on the bay but did'nt realize how good it was for smallmouth. I usually hit the inland lakes. I've seen the show with Hank Parker earlier this year. Any tips for fishing out there, on the bay? I will be up there in June and in July for sure. When are the better times of year?

Usually the spawn on the Bay is in the later part of June through the 4th of July. The Cherry Festival is also around the 4th of July and it is a huge draw. Rooms would definitely be at a premium then.

I'm on bass lake literally about 10 min from the bay. I'm gonna research  it over the winter and hit it hard this year. That video really got me itchin to go..

sounds like mid June was the best for the bay.   Hoping to get up to Elk Rapids to a friends cottage around the full moon in June.  He says 5 pounders are stacked in front of his place on the bay that time of year.

One of the reasons I traded up to my current boat is to be able to fish places like Travers, Burt, and Mullett.

One of these days..............

I'm not much for competitive fishing but what about a GLB up north outing?  We could get a bunch of guys and boats together and all stay in or around the same place.   We could share info like my club does.  You wouldn't give away your spots but patterns and perhaps general locations on the water.

It's a great way to research a body of water you are unfamiliar with.

Any takers?

I seen this show yesterday as well. He seems to film 1 or 2 shows ayear there. Yesterday Shaw Grigsbys show was on Traverse Bay as well(actually last week was as well but with local guide Chris Noffsinger). im trying to determine were Shaw launched(show repeats at 10 am sunday morning on sportsmans channel.

Fishing 411 with Michigans Mark Romanack lists fishing on the bays as well at 11 am on same channel.

3 national shows on the same weekend, our secret is getting out boys.

Not sure which show of Shaw's but I hear he had one a few weeks back that he did film on East Grand Traverse last June.  I saw him out there and it was pretty cool.  Well, more like cold for that Floridian.  lolol    ;D

I believe it was the prior weeks show when he was with his guide and they were throwing strike king swimbait or crankbait. I know it was east bay cause in some shots u can see the GT Resort clearly.

I thought it was maybe on west bay this past weekends show cause their was some para sailing going on in the background but someone said it was Torch. Maybe some editing to keep me guessing?

Theres parasailing on both bays now.  When Shaw did torch. I was driving by on my way to the golf course for work and stopped in and chatted a bit. Kinda cool he rembered a big yankee  that took a picture with him at the '06 classic.
