Exceptions to this will need to be discussed with me in advance. Use the contact information above.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Nonboaters please bring life jackets to make sure we have enough. Life jackets must be worn zipped and/or buckled whenever the gas motor is running. Boater must use working kill switch when gas motor is running.
No live bait, artificials only.
I try to make sure there are as few boats as possible with no one that knows the water. I can have a mini-seminar before we launch on where to fish for people who ask for it. This is an event where we want to see everyone catch some fish!
If you have anything new or like new you'd like to donate for prize giveaways, please contact (http://glbass.com/contact) me.
This event is all about everyone catching some fish, having fun and getting to know each other, and also to honor the memory one of our greatest members - David MadWags Wagensomer!!! Thank you for being members of GreatLakesBass.com.
Post that you are attending, and if attending as a boater or nonboater in this thread please.

Frank

I am super limited on my Vacation days....I have to save as many as I can for any BFLs or Club tournaments that I want to fish...and then it is a struggle....

Re: jerkbait - he's been a member a long time and fished before. He's just quiet and doesn't get to post much.
Turns out my daughter could care less if I'm at her 18th birthday party ??? - should have figured that.
Put me down as a boater and I would bring my co-anglers sister-in-law Laura Lisiscki and nephew Andrew Lisiscki as co-anglers.
Take advantage while you can (and buy her something nice from us).

Finally got a myself a computer, so hopefully I'll be posting more often, Lol. Quiet means focused, just need a boater to get me where the larger fish are. ;) JK. I enjoy these tournaments every spring.
Great news to hear you are online again!

I'll fish as a non boater. What was the entry fee? And do you still use Harley Ensign?
$7 includes a $2 big bass pot. Brutal... I know. Still out of Harley Ensign. I'll get the rest of the information up - like fishing 8am until 2pm - in early March.
Member Randy Smith doesn't have internet right now so he asked me to sign him up as a non boater. He will be fishing with me again this year if that's OK.
Count me in as a non-boater. If needed, I could go boater.
I need to get this updated when I get back from the jungle! I will be putting up a poll for the lake choice for the fall West side tournament too.
Count me in -- if I have boat by May as a boater, otherwise I ride. Met MadWags Nephew last Sat -- nice young man.
Best Regards to all GLB anglers.

LMAO Brad. What is up with that dude ???? He must think you're the Bomb when it comes to fishing and no one else could teach him more. lol
I say mystery draw at the ramp! Not sure what the deal is though. Lets head back afterward if you want.
I'm planning on making a weekend of it. :)
Count me in as a non-boater.

Ill bring Chips and Bunns
I'll start a new topic

I am guilty as charged, I can't resist dusting off an old joke every year for grins and giggles. My memory might have slipped, I guess we were closer to the Valero, my bad.
;D ;D
You are impossible to "not love" you Scott R R - look forward to seeing you 7:21... ish !! (PS: The "ish" keeps you out of trouble every time ) ;D
Shoot! I think it was the Valero... My memory is about toast! I need to get on top of my axle or I will be riding with someone again. That might actually get me there earlier if I don't have to haul the big rig over...? I thought it helped last year? Maybe not?
Ok Im in as a non-boater for now if you need boaters I can drag my boat over.
I'll wait about 1 more week before I start adding up boater and non-boaters to see where we are at.
I am in as a non-boater.
Glad to hear it! Thanks for coming along. Haven't heard from you in a while again. Must be busy?
Definitely busy. Have moved into development for smart phones at work, so tons of new learning and trying to keep up with a technology moving really quickly.
Can't wait to start fishing. Cleaned the rods and reels today, certainly feeling the itch.
Yeah. Me too.
Im in as a boater, customfishn need a ride?
Yeah. Show him how it's done! ;D
I am gonna do my best to make it, but no boat for this trip. Thats too big of a lake for me having never been there before. Time off is not an issue. Just an open backseat is. I'll know more after ya post how many are open . Then I have to find a hotel and a guy that will let me smoke on the boat as long as I promise not to burn it or toss the butt anywhere but my pocket.
I'll see what I can do.
It is a huge lake. Definitely want to be careful on it when you are a LSC novice boater. My second trip there was on my own in my old Nitro. A storm kicked up, it got really rough, and I broke my prop hub at 9 Mile. Let's just say, it was a LONG ride back to Harley that day.
I did learn a valuable lesson. That lake changes like crazy. You have to be aware of your area constantly. Last year on the way back from Muskamoot wit Goetsch, there was a sand bar in the middle of nowhere, at least 6 to 8 inches above water. And I do stress the middle of nowhere.
It is an awesome lake. I look forward to every trip there. Can't wait for this one!
It's not the size that gets me. The Bay can get just as bad as fast. I just don't have any GPS map on the bow. Heck. I have to buy a new one. I would have noooooo clue where to go or like ya said. Where a sandbar is.
::that would be a hint for a donated HDS 10, cause well, my eyesite ain't as good as it use to be ;D :D::: J/K

Whoa!!! Post #1! Way to go Brett! Hopefully we don't have 5 footers this time out there.
Welcome Brett. This is by far the most fun tournament out there, glad you are joining in.
Dan, what is the number of boats at?? Do you think there will be more anglers this year? I can't wait! I'm really looking forward to it. I have my nephew Evan (the son of Dave "MadWags" Wagensomer) fishing the tournament with me this year.
Its great that Evan can come too. Looking forward to seeing him again.
I will have something of a list by this weekend according to my todo list. I did not like my todo list very much today. I will like it a lot better tomorrow.

Welcome Brett. This is by far the most fun tournament out there, glad you are joining in.
It is definitely a good time. Brett and I went over there 2 summers ago, but it was beyond rough, and not knowing a whole lot about the lake, we were unsuccessful. Not for lack of trying though. We ended up on Kent later that day. Hopefully he will get himself an LSC toad this time.
Hey Pollock, you don't need a GPS. Just pull out of Harley and head along the shore to the South. Now if a fog rolls in and you can't see shore, that could be a issue. But that wouldn't stop me. :)
Jeff:: Boat prolly won't be ready for the water yet by then. New prop and carpet and a few other things. I only get 3 to mabye 4 days of work in per week at a fantasticccccccccc <cough> rate. So the amount of extra cash will be greatly reduced. Dragging that thing down prolly won't me afofordabe. Plus I can rember some spots with someone who has been there before for future trips.
I always try to make sure I don't end up with too many boats that don't know the water. I can do a mini-seminar at the ramp with a map for those who want it. The whole idea of this even is fun and catching fish!
I'm sure we can find you a boat. In fact, I believe I already have you matched up with a 'local.'
No, I'm not ready to post a list yet but very soon I will do that. Hopefully by the end of the weekend.
If you get put in the boat with Goetsch, prepare to be taught a thing or two. If you find fish on beds, he is an animal. I saw it first hand last year.
I'm one of them "local's" too ya know . :D :D
Just not a , down there' local ;D
I meant a 'local' local. With the ya in der, I almost had you pegged as a cheesehead!?! For a second, I thought I saw yocal too!?! But that was just my glasses.
A cheezyhead!!!! mannnnnnnnnn thatslow :D :D
I will be attending as Non-boater
Ok 1 more little thing I need help with. A hotel that isn't the four seasons. Just a bed , sink, toilet and shower. Preferably with no "adult entertainers" roming around :D
And what town is the launch hear. As you can see . I hav never been down there
Adult entertainers? Wait what hotel is that at?
Hopefully not the one im lookin at . It's called the victory hotel right off 94 at N & S river road
I stayed at the Victory once. Not the nicest part of town, but I had my boat and it wasnt messed with, the rooms were clean, and very resonable. I would recommend it if you are trying to save money.

The Victory is okay for saving money. You won't have to worry about your boat. The 2 or 3 times I've stayed there, we were in a group and nothing remarkable happened. It isn't fancy but it's not that bad either. Parking was the trickiest part but we had all our boats and it was crowded. We did pull it off anyway.
Long as the shower , toity work im good usually. Does this mean I have to be the first guy there since I'll be so close?? And NOOOOO changing launches and not tellin me . I won't have a laptop to find out . I know how sneeky some of ya could be :D :D :D
The worst we ever did was confuse some people about where we were stopping to eat afterwards. Other than forgetting some plates or utensils.
OK. I am in as a non-boater. Just pair me up with some one who knows where they are going!! LOL!!
Change me to boater.
OK, T-minus 3 weeks and counting. I have a LOT to do in those 3 weeks. How is everyone else coming? I dont HAVE to have the 997 mounted, but I would sure love to. Need to get the new prop on and the boat is ready. Not much to do there. Still have to go through and organize all the tackle, but if I concentrate on St Clair tackle, there isnt much there either. Have to respool 12 reels, but again, if I concentrate on St Clair only, I dont need that many. I have a club tourney on the 29th of this month, so everything will be checked out good. I'll worry about food the day before. Sorry guys, just trying to get it all straight in my head.

Your right. That's too much to do in three weeks. Just read the results of the MadWags Memorial on Greatlakesbass.com.
I'll be thinking of you getting your tackle and boat ready while I'm fishing.
LOL
Mike, do we have to give you a lesson in time management? I was spooling line a couple weeks ago. Got some work to do to the truck, and I'm ready to go. I am pumped for the 12th. Can't wait.
well, over 80 hours the last two weeks, and gone back to school, so its hard to manage what you dont have. I'll be there if I have to paddle.
I guess that would be tough. Back to school? Good for you, Mike!
Mikesmiph isn't alone. I haven't touched my tackle yet. I do have an Amazon tackle box I could bring with me?!? I wonder if spring Lake St. Clair smallies like giant woodchoppers?!?
Good for you Mike, I know what it's like to try and juggle a full time job and school. Its not easy, but definitely worth it. I graduate on May 4th with a criminal justice law enforcement degree and have recently received a position with Marine City as a Reserve Officer and hope to work there after I go to the Academy next summer. We'll see you at the club tourney next week and I also can't wait for the 12th.

I'm sorry Dan, but I kinda cheated. I actually grew up in Detroit, about 10 miles from the launch area (and even closer for a few years). I lived on Detroit's East Side for all of my 32 years there before I moved to the "Middle-Side" of the state.
I wonder what we have to do to get over this??
Hello all I am new to this forum, just saw this tournament sounds lime alot of fun have a couple of questions 1-is there still openings for non-boater and 2-what waters are open?
Thanks
Dave
I can't say 100%, but Dan doesn't ever leave anybody out, so I'm sure there will be room somewhere. He does everything in his power to get everyone out there. We have a really good group of guys, so it all works very well.
As far as what waters are open, only Michigan waters. I do know that for a fact.

Its about time. LOL
Looks like I'm back in as a non-boater if someone has a seat...
Okay. I've added you to the list I will update in a few minutes. We are still a fair number of boats short but I'm working on it. Worse comes to worse, I may ask a few boaters to triple up to get everyone out. One boater has already graciously volunteered to do so on his own! Thanks mikeszr800!!
I know i'm supposed to bring my own life jacket as a non boater but mine seems to be MIA. Wanted to ask in advance if someone would have one I could borrow. Can't wait to get out on the water.
I'll have an extra vest and an extra savephace if needed by anyone.
Hey Mike, remind me to bring a vest and my SavePhace mask!! LOL!!!
Looking forward to this event. 11 more days!

Updating the lists. Yes, please bring extra life jackets if you have them.
One other reminder - you need the Largemouth Bass Weighmaster measuring board to get the correct measurement to weigh conversions for the catch-measure-release event.
If you have 1 at all, even if you are not a boater at this event, please bring it so we are sure we have enough. I do not have any extra measuring boards.
In for boater

Hey Dan, only 23 boats this year???
Was it a bigger turnout last year?
Close to the same. We ended up with 26 boats I believe last spring. We had 29 non-boaters.
This spring so far we have 23 boaters and 28 non-boaters. Pretty close.
I'm in as a boater.
Anyone in Grand Rapids area that wants to ride over with me? I am going for the day and coming home that night.

I may join in if I can either, shot my turkey quick or get out of the shop to fish that day. Not sure what next week is looking like for me yet. If I fish I will have my buddy from North Carolina with me.

We are now only 1 boat less than last year and 1 total person OVER last year! 56 total anglers coming to fish!
Bring those extra life jackets if you have them! Bring those extra Golden Rule weighmaster boards too!
Hey Dan, just curious. I have one, but why does everyone need a Goldenrule??? You usually have the conversion chart on the sheet. All they need to do is measure and use the chart. ???
Not everyone has a measuring board that measures to the 1/8th inch. I doubt anyone will take issue in this event but sometimes different brands of boards do not measure exactly the same, which is why most tournament organizations would name the board brand they were using in the past.
If someone fishes who does not have the Golden Rule Weighmaster, you will need to measure the bass, mouth closed against the end to the end of longest part of tail and read the length to the nearest measurement line the tail touches or passes.
Good thing I'm a backseater. Blew up the freshly rebuil, 30 hour or less on it motor today on a very long trip to Houghton. >:(

That sucks do you have a warranty?
Well, he rebuilt it last summer, got it back in sept, put it away in oct and ran it 3 times thsi year. Far as I'm concerend it is still under a full warranty
Ouch. I bet the mechanic will have a different opinion of the warranty period. That's a bummer. I had a transmission done in my wife's car a few years back. We got a 6 month warranty, as long as I brought it back at so many miles for a fluid and filter inspection. I did everything the way they wanted. The day after the 6 months was up, I had to leave work to tow the car home because the transmission puked again. I can feel your pain.

lower unit was fine but everything related to the trim and tilt, was lost in a stump hit, trim motor, brackets etc. state farm covered it all. the time lost is what hurst the most
Looks like I'm riding over with Genie and Dan.

Two blown motors in just a few days is more than enough.
Just lost another boater for other reasons. Hope that is the end of it!?! I do have a number of boaters who have volunteered to take 3 so we'll get everyone out fishing. We could use 2 or 3 more boats but we'll make it work. This is about fishing, catching and having fun!

Are you sure he still drives a truck? All those kids he is probably sporting a mini van.
Ouch! Genie, don't take that!
I'd say I still owe him a few more jabs from the last time we hung out.
Well Dan, I'm not riding on the hump in the middle!
Fitting. A buncha half asleep fishermen stumbling outa a mini van kickin kids toys out the door as they exit. ;D
There is a back seat .. full of car seats though .... Dan - you can probably fit in one.
Heck mike, if you don't want to sit in a car seat you can ride over with Aaron and me. I have lots of room.

Well If Dons truck is to noisy we could take mine but my back seat isnt as big
You need to find a way to pull 2 or 3 boats with Don's truck. That would mean a Skeeter, Nitro, and Triton. Therefore, the boater nonboater ratio gets closer to even.
