Title: Grand River Info
Post by: SODY on July 24, 2011, 10:32:27 PM
A few tips for those coming from points beyond from a west sider.....

Places to stay.
Book now in Holland or Grand haven as their are festivals galore this time of year.
A close place to stay is the courtesy Hotel, small bed and plug in at 15877 Lake Michigan drive, Grand Haven, Corner of US -31 and M-45......Close to launch 15 minutes or less.
On my way back from prefishing tonight I stopped he has 5 rooms left for next weekend, mention BFL fishing. 1(616)842-3420

Also north bound on US31 is a campground that used to be yogibears it is now called NASCAR RV resort campground. Camping and cabins

Location

Riverside is located at 10317 I believe it is called North Ceder RD at that point, just beyond Dicks landing and southern grand marina if coming from west.....the boat launch is $5 and has an envelope drop box. Pick up an envelope and don't park on the Street they will ticket you. Hours are 7AM -10PM I see we are launching and taking off at 6 AM so the BFL must have that worked out with the gatekeeper.

An alternative free launch up river a mile is found on 118th ave and North ceder, known as the Robinson TWP launch it has two pads for larger boats and is open 4AM -11 PM. This is just passed River Haven Marina. Launch from here if you are prefishing this week or don't want the riverside headache on takeoff day , it is a little drive on the water to riverside but some guys do it.

The water craft on the river and spring lake has been nuts after 10:00 AM expect jet skis and power boats. OBEY the no wakes or pay the price I witnessed many police boats today

The river is low and the debris is high, watch out for several logs sticking out of the water as you go down the river. One big one is right in front off the Robinson launch, most are in no wake zones so just pay attention.

Gas in Holland is $2.67 as a low and 2.79 as a high ,ethanol free gas is available at rittermens in Plainwell Mi on the main drag as you head across state.

Hope this helps check out next thread for fishing report.
