just wondering if anyone drives by kent lake daily,,, is the lake still covered with ice, or is it mostly open water? looking to take my boat out there this weekend and try for some bluegill and crappie. thanks, nitroderrek
might drive out there tomorrow at lunch time. If so I will report. the water is really flowing through town.
I drove by on Sunday, it was still covered.
Drove by today hoping to see open water but it's still frozen over. :-[
Drove by Ford Lake yesterday and it was pretty open.
Wednesday afternoon it was still totally covered.
still ice covered. there is a lot of water flowing in under Buno. Should go fast if we get some rain.
The lake is still covered, However it is starting to break up around the shore by the X-way. It is also looking real dark. There was a couple of guys still fishing Thursday by Turtlehead.
Drove by yesterday...some open water. Still about 80% ice though. Seems to be clearing out...slowly.
Stay patient my friends. 8)
I don't want to be patient. I want to go fishing!
I was at Oakland/Woodhul and Maceday/Lots and they still had ice. I went to Belleville last week and it was about 75% free of ice but no where to launch.
been on cass the last 2 days, lots of fishable water. goin again sunday
Frank
Still ice fishing around here. :'(
kent is almost clear. there is some ice in the bays. Union is about 1/2 open you could launch but if the wind changes there will be lots of ice at the launch.
looks like another week of couch fishing for me.
By monday, Kent will be totaly ice free, YESSSSSSS!!!!
But is the launch in at Kent?????
i didn't think they ever took the launch out at Kent.
Perhaps a bigger question is though, are they raising the water level?
With my old boat, I waited until that large rock that can be seen in the water by the Expressway bridge is under water.
With a 16' aluminum boat, and no 4 wheel drive, I couldn't launch until it was. Now with my 18.5 ' Ranger, it might be a little easier.
There other thing is, with all the stumps and trees in that lake, I gotta wonder about hitting stuff until the water level is up some from winter pool.
I saw no ice on kent this morning, 4/5 8)
But, those of you that go west bound on I96, is the rock under water yet?
Or, does anybody know if they've at least started raising the water levels yet?

I was out there for a walk yesterday. I didn't pay attention for that rock, but the lake is free of ice in all the spots I saw. Water levels are still down.
drove by on 96 this afternoon. didn't see the rock...but wasn't really looking for it. Water does still look down though. Would like to check out the ramp later this week. Will pick up the sticker and hope to inquire about the summer pool when I do.
Cheers all.
I called Kensington's office just now. I was told they started raising the water level abut a week and a half ago. She told me it usually takes about a month to reach summer pool.
But what about the rock?
Are you talking about the rock at the point where the river goes under 96?
Yep
I went by two days ago and that rock is clearly visible, with quite a bit of it out of the water.
Then I suppose those who are willing to launch and putt around the lake would be able to mark a lot of the trees and stumps.
Hopefully not with their props though.
