Title: spinnerbait storage
Post by: Frank on March 12, 2011, 03:51:50 AM
There has got to be a better way to store spinnerbaits.  I want to carry 50 or so and I don't like the little bag of zip locks.  Is there a decent sized box out there anywhere.

Here's what I use, It will carry 50 baits easily. I also mount a piece of PVC bull nose molding under my compartment lids to hang the ones I plan to use that day so I don't have to pull out the bulk storage box.

Falcon/plano makes a nice one, but it's about $14.00.

I don't like the falcon but that plano looks nice.  Where could I get one.  I can't find it at bass pro or KD or plano.  Maybe dicks has it

I like the Plano one.  Got it in Newaygo (I think) about 20 years ago.  No idea where to get one these days.  Don't recall seeing one recently.  It has 6 racks(or rows or holders or whatever you wanna call them), but it is awful tight, so I only have 3 in there.  Makes for plenty of room for the baits to hang and easy to get in and out.  I figure if I can't get through the day with only 3 dozen spinnerbaits, I oughtta try golf.

@Leonard- Do you have a close up picture of the molding under your storage lid?  That looks to me like a good idea.

Rick,
I'll post some picks when I get home. It is just PVC bull nose molding for drywall. You can buy an eight foot piece for $5.00 or so at home depot and cut to length. It has a million holes pre-drilled for nailing already and you can secure with stainless wood screws. If you want to hang plastics get some bass pro zip lock bags that go to their worm binders and hang with plain old shower curtain hooks. They sell the bags for under $10 per 100 or so.

i cant seem to find that bow for sale.  i can find places that used to sell it.  maybe ill just have to stick with the small box for now.  that just means ill have to leave the double buzz baits at home.  they take up way too much room.  great idea with the molding.  and remember, even a bad day of fishing still beats a great day of golfing.  I had to explain to my dad that i am not allowed to golf due to the fact that i own a boat.

Frank,
I sent you an email were you can get a Plano box. There is two available but not for long. It looks like Plano doesn't make them anymore.
Good luck, Len B.

That Falcon came in two sizes and I thought they were nice since it can be transported. It's about the same size as the Plano 3700, I was at Gander Mountain and they had one for $ 9.99 and 14.99. IT stored spinner baits pretty good. On boat storage is really a good and bad thing. A fisherman tends to try and have all his tackle on the boat, but what about when he has to fish with someone else????????

I'm a new sponsor here.  Check out www.thebaitbar.com (http://www.thebaitbar.com)  each set will hold 26 baits and free up storage space while keeps baits tangle free and easy to view.
