Title: Coolest fishing shoes EVER
Post by: mikesmiph on February 16, 2011, 09:28:00 AM
I WILL have a pair of these on my feet this spring. Wags, you're gonna love em. They are called Vibram Fivefingers. There are several places here in Michigan that will be carrying them, but I didnt find anyone with them in stock yet. I did find them on Moosejaw.com.

A friend of mine wears those things for running in.  He swears by them.  I think I will stick with my Keens!  Love 'em!

Yea, I saw those last summer. A couple of guys in my horseshoe league were wearing them. Both guys said they were the most comfortable "shoes" they had ever worn. I have never worn a pair but I have a hard time believing they could be comfortable. They really looked like glorified socks. No support whatsoever that I could see. I gotta have good arch support or my lower back and neck suffer big time.

I wear Keen or Ecco sandals and they are great. I wouldn't trade them for a case of any other kind. Of course, that's just my opinio

I've seen those before. One thing I have on my list to buy is a pair of Gore tex socks. I was at Pickwick this past year Marshaling and was riding with Kevin Wirth.  It was cold and rainy and we were tied up and rafted together waiting to lock through to Wilson. Wirth was telling the group that his feet were warm as toast, because he was wearing his gore tex socks. He said it was one of the best purchases he's ever made. They last a long time and your feet stay dry, and consequently warm. He talked me in to getting a pair. They're not cheap, but an item that I think I'm going to try.

Not for me. I leave too many cranks and trebles around as a switch baits. I don't want to have a wave toss me onto one. I'd stick with Crocs in the summer - comfortable and open. They cant hold any stank either.

Don't be fashion hater... with Mike's legs, he should be able to wear anything he wants on his feet!

I don't think an over the shoulder bag is appropriate for fishing - you need to go with a stylish clutch.  ::)

Funny stuff... After laughing to myself for a couple of minutes I had to modify my post.  :D

Vibram is one of the best soles out there. I talked to a runner friend and he said lots of runners are wearing them. Cant feel anything like rocks or sticks. He laughed when I said the thing about fish hooks. Said you cant even stick one if if you tried. I'll check with my orthoped, first, but looks like great support to me. And, the are called satchels, didnt you ever see The Hangover?

I don't think I am going to rush out anytime soon and buy those for $100.  I am more interested in the pair of Adidas that I saw Mike Iaconnelli wearing on City Limits Fishing.  They were similar to a pair of soccer cleats that my son is wearing but without the cleats of course. I think he was wearing them in the show where he was fishing within the Memphis city limits.  They had a holographic look to them and could be priced in the $50 to $80 range.  The cleats my son is wearing are Adidas and they run $54.  Much better than a glorified pair of rubber/silicone/PVC socks.  I currently have emails to City Limits Fishing, Iaconnelli, and Versus to see what they are called and where I can get a pair.

I heard these were really nice.  High end.  I may try a pair of them. I think I have seen them at BPS.
