I'm not real happy about this, but it does mean that open water is near. I did not get to do enough riding this year due to work. But, I do have a new side imaging unit to use! I also have really warm gear for the snowmobile, which is way faster than the boat. Guess I will get to do some exploring, and find the spots I want to fish on Muskegon and White this year. Heck, I got 2 months of scouting and catching dog fish ahead.
You just stay away from my rockbass hot spots this spring!!
went for a walk today to watch guys " not " catching any fish. there is about a foot of snow on the 18 inches of ice on my lake. going to be a while. Still can figure why anyone would ever go ice fishing.
Me neither, half the fun of fishing is being on the water with nature and a great day of weather for me anyway. I don't even want to go if we have high winds or rain. Retired know so I can pick my days. I'll check out Union Lake one day.
Ice fishing to me is just a reason to get together with the fella's. A couple of shanties and a heater is the only way to go. And with the 18'' of solid ice I saw yesterday. I'm not going to get to excited about softwater just yet

You can have em. Unless of course, that's all that is willing to bite.

you have a sled to pull your beer, it never gets warm and you get to pee outside.... what more reason do you need?
Relax guys, its still Michigan, and its still February. We still have a month before we start thinking about soft water. At least I hope, I still have a LOT to do to the boat.
I'm predicting my first local tournament this year will be an ice fishing tournament. >:( :( :'(
