Title: Soft plastic guys VS crankbait painters
Post by: dartag on January 30, 2011, 08:18:42 AM
Since I see there is a huge cult of crankbait painters out here now.  I think we need a fun tourny to see if they work.   Maybe Kent lake with the crankers vs us soft plastic, jig guys.   When is the best time of year to fish them pretty cranks.    I would be willing to put up a bag of my special 1/2 senkos as a prize.

I don't have two many really nice cranks
But in the spring and fall it would be interesting to see who would win
I'd lean towards rattle traps and jerk baits myself

At work we were throwing out a couple ideals for fun tournaments
THe most interesting ideal was a grab bag tournament

Throw a bunch of different styles in a bag
And you would have to fish the style or two that you pulled out of the bag
If any thing it would make you fish a different style for the day

Could someone sneak in a bag of helicopter lures?

Sure I still have a case of Helos from when you were on their prostaff and told me they were the greatest thing since the flying lure and that I should buy a case before the price shot up. :D

Banjo minnows,  super dupers, Kelly plow jockeys,  K&E bass busters.  I think I have them all somewhere.    Themn fancy paint jobs will not have a chance.   Them kent lake pike love them.  I have seen Cheetam feed them a couple times.

I'll probably have 1 rod and lots of  jigs.  Pike love them too.

I'm in.  I have a 7" Tru Tungsten swimbait I'm finishing up.  All I need now is a rod to handle a 2.5 oz bait.  Maybe my dropshot rod?

How can you throw them pretty cranks? I have a crank that Cheetam painted and gave me as a wedding present. He asked me if I caught any fish on it. I told him I'm too scared to scratch it. I still haven't thrown it. I have it displayed on my bedroom dresser.

On another note... I always thought it would be interesting to have a tourny where all you could use is circle hooks. Can you imagine all us bass anglers trying NOT to set the hook!!!

joshimoto son ;D

You crankbait guys better get on Kent before the weeds take over the lake. I wouldn't bet on them in the summer and I won't bet on Charlie - EVER!
I'll gladly lose another $20 to see you throw that ugly ass lure around for 4 hours.

I agree with Mike...I most of you see me as a crank bait guy, but I do fish a lot of other baits too!

Make sure the box you borrow isn't the box he borrowed from me.  My box doesn't have the Jimmy Buffett crank.

Not as bad as it gets sometimes. Maybe we'll have an 'easy winter' this year?
