Post by: BNL on January 11, 2011, 12:50:33 AM
What is everyone's vote for the best lake(s) in Michigan to pitch to docks?  Just curious...

You just cannot beat Belleville in terms of dock fishing..... I mean, man oh man, they really get up under all of those docs. LOL!
I'm being facisous.

Kent Lake!  ;D

They really seem to get up under dock and pontoons on lots of the lakes in Livingston County. I was really surprised because even where it is really shallow a long way out the fish can still be up there. I don't really have a favorite, it just depends on the day and which one has the fewest people that will run out of their house threatening you.

Yep - Lobdel, Wolverine, White... basically any lake with a dock on it is a good dock lake.

spent all of sept and oct dock fishing.   I really learned a lot.  Skipping a jig under a dock or pontoon and waiting for the strike is fun.  Never know what you will get.    There are a couple guys and gals on the local NBAA tours that do very well on docks.   figure if I can't beat um might as well join um.   Might have to sell my depth finders and drop shot rods and get more heavy stuff.

Pontiac lake is the worst lake.   Them people don't like dock fishermen.  some even have ' No Casting " signs on there docks and rafts.  Them people are crabby.

I have always done great on Belleville Lake docks.  I am not being facetious.  Some of the best dock fishing in the state is on Belleville.  I can understand why Wixom would be good.  It's a lot like Belleville.  There is a certain way to fish them in order to be successful and there are some features that you have to look for there as not all docks there hold fish.  It can be tough.

I have spent more time in the pads on Wixon than on docks.  Also I like Ford and Lobdell.  Surprisingly Lobdell is good.  I never thought so until I came on a pattern out there and have had some great days.  Lobdell is also one of my favorite night time lakes.  Ford Lake docks hold some real good fish.  Again some are better than others and there are certain features that make them that way.  One must spend time on the water in order to find the key.

Liprip, Ford Lake has had some awesome fishing on docks.  There are not a lot of docks on the lake but they have been good to me and I have cashed a few checks on those docks. Same as Belleville. There are characteristics about those docks on Ford that will make them great on some days and a bust on others. Same as Belleville.  Wacky tabacky or not, I catch fish on those docks because I have learned how to fish them.

Joslin lake!
I never tried docks there but I like that lake, I'll have to try next time I go there. Parking is a little limited and there aren't too many docks I don't think.

Thanks for all the responses. Always fun to hear peoples opinions. I wish I could add more myself, but I'm very inexperienced at fishing any lake except the one I live on. I do love pitching to docks and so this thread is a lot of fun for me, inspires me to branch out more, which I need to do in 2011. Thanks guys!
