Title: St. Joe River
Post by: Duke on May 28, 2006, 07:54:53 PM
Launched from Maggies this morning about 6:30 and fished until 11:30. I found fishing quite good, though no pigs were caught. Biggest bass was 15" largemouth off bed. The smallmouth are biting pretty aggressively on seawalls on a combination of crankbaits & tubes & wacky worms. I didn't spend too much time on them. I went searching for largemouth and found many on beds  :P. This surprised me: for the first few hours I saw many beds but all were empty. Then I came across one section with dozens of greenies still locked on beds. It was one of those good days where you could catch smallies & largemouth  :). I do worry about the largemouth in the immediate future. When they finish spawning in the next week or 2, they could get real tough to catch  :-[.
