I was talking to John Selling about putting together an adult youth tournament on Pontiac Lake next year. He likes the idea. Now I just have to come up with a date and time and format. I'm thinking weekend. Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for 4 hours. Starting a little later than our tournaments. Maybe around noon. I don't want to conflict with anything else if I can help it. What are your thoughts on this?
This is where I'm coming from. I have been fishing with my daughter since she could hold a pole. She will be 7 by the time we have this. I would like to set it up so that all of the kids have a great time. For the young ones, especially 4 and 5 year olds, this means modifying the normal rules a little. Sometimes you need to let them throw on a worm and fish for bluegill. Sometimes you need to let them take a break at the sandbar to go swimming. Sometimes you need to come back to the dock to use the potty. I would like for all of this to be possible. Maybe even having a younger and an older division. I would also like to get prizes, wether donated, or bought, and give them all a chance to win something. I'd also like to find a way to allow more than one kid in the boat if need be. (That way you can take both of your kids if you want too)
Are any of you interested in something like this. Any advice, ideas, or a good date and time you would like to see this happen?
You are thinking in the right direction. I don't have a many of the schedules down yet so I can't recommend a date at the moment.
If my plate isnt already too full, Veronica and I would love to help you with this Frank.
I would love to do something like that with my son. He's not real crazy about bass fishing yet, but I bet if he saw other kids getting into it, he would. I'd definitely drag the boat over there for that.
hey bro - NBAA usually has a kids division - check it out - I think its 5 - 7 tournaments, ribbons and trophies for the kids .....
Mojo,
You're right, they do have one. It's in Benzie county on Crystal Lake. If it was 4 hours closer I would be there.
