I bought a 7' mhf kistler Helium LTA and when i recieved it the end of the rod blank isn't strait. I called them up and they sent out a new rod. I got that rod yesterday and that blank isn't strait either! I called them this morning and the guy said that he personally picked that rod out and its the straitest one they have! He said they haven't had any issues with the rods other than the blanks arn't completely strait......Does anyone have one of these rods? I can't believe that they charge $230 for a rod that the blanks arn't strait! I'm undecided if i'm going to send it back and get my money back.
Just about all rod blanks have some sort of "crook" in them, some worse than others. The higher modulus graphites are harder to build "straight", and have a very high scrap rate. In fact, lots of companies build their rods with the guides on the curve instead of spine so you never even notice it. It's probably ok, even though it bothers you. If it's that bad, it would probably bother me too!
its not that bad i guess.......prob only 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch.....but i can notice it!!!
