Ok I have next week off for a fall smallie fishing trip and I have a decision to make by Sunday afternoon. Should I go to St. Clair or head up north? St. Clair is closer by about an hour compared to the Traverse City area. I have no experience up at Burt and Mullet but have heard good things. In Traverse City I have a little experience on Duck, Green, once on Lelanau and a couple times on East Grand Traverse Bay. I have a little more expereince on St. Clair. I even just got a 8 day license for Canada but I'm not sure how long it will take for the south side to clear up after these North winds lately.
I guess I'm looking for some recent fishing and conditions reports, or tips. Not sure if any of the guys providing boats or our Michigan State team fishermen can help me out with all that is going on this weekend. I'll gather all the info I can by Sunday noon and decide where to go. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Jeff
Check the weather first, where ever you go. I would go to Burt, you fish for giants in the fall and burt has them. If you hit it right there should be wolf packs of 2-5 fish cruising up shallow.

couldn't help ya, but take into account that its october and every other day is gonna be cold, windy or raining probably. Up north you can at least find some smaller lakes if the wind/weather keep you off the big water.
Thanks guys. Yes, weather will play a big part, and from what I just looked at for St. Clair I wasted money buying the Canadien license. Winds from the North or North East for the next 4 to 5 days. Oh well, had to have it just in case. Mile roads might be ok. I'll keep trying to gather information.
Gale force winds as a matter of fact tonight through tomorrow night!!! Ouchy...
Up north is closed for the season. ;D
Too late!
How bout a report, french fry?
Thought I'd let Tcook do one. In a nut shell I hit Canadian shoreline of Erie for a day and a half, not real good. Then off to Burt area and met up with Tcook. We hit them really well one day the other areas we fished, not so good. Still caught smallies just not quite as big or numerous. If Tim doesn't post I'll put up a better report and a few pics.
He put up a report somewhere. I remember reading about it.
Well, it was just part of this thread: http://www.greatlakesbass.com/forum/index.php?topic=8862.0
