Title: Cheating Scandal Rocks the US Open in Arizona

Tell me - 10 oz a day x 3 days means he lost everything for just under 2 lb:

I wonder if the BFL, NBAA or others randomly check gullets ? Or better yet - why not a metal detector ? Wouldnt hurt the fish ? ...

PS: I love how the new paper unabashedly posts his face for the world to see and also the hooked weight. Awesome.

Do metal detectors detect lead?

Lead, yes.  Although there is several other metals that are undetectable.

A simpler way would be a lie detector - we will be administering quite a few in 2011.

they should add a new rule:  Any contestant proven to be cheating will lose all items used in the tournament.  Boat, truck, tackle and all.  The DNR can do that for poaching.

theres should be a forum to have tournaments where the prizes go > $10,000 to have a metal detector clamped on the side of fish alive tub and each one is scanned as it goes back in the weigh bag. Calibrate it so it detects 1 oz weights or greater but set so it isnt going off every other fish ... type deal. Michigan TBF or NBAA should be out in front of this and lead the nation in something good and right for the sport.

Why wait for other states like Texas or Oklahoma etc and then follow suit ??

Perhaps a quick X-ray.  That would find any foreign object.  Not sure what the radiation dose on the fish would be, but I'd think it'd be minimal.
