Last June I was searching for a new flippin' stick, so i thought I would try a Kistler since I've heard they stand behind their rods, well after spending $165.00 on a nice stick I actually thought I had one of the nicest rods money could buy. That was........at least until I broke it, the rod was like 10-11 months old and I broke it while fighting a junk fish that hit my jig 'n pig. Well, anyways I followed the instructions and emailed customer service 3 weeks ago about it, then again 2 weeks ago.........and as of this a.m. I had NOT heard a peep out of them. Anyways.....I was pretty ticked off and have been fishing without my favorite rod for 3 weeks. This morning I was fed up, so i went to their website and posted a rather unpleasant topic on their company forum. I get a call 15 minutes ago from Reuben, he says that they can replace it and will do so but it will cost me $50 + $20.00 shipping. I'm ticked off now!!
Now I have to fork out $70 more just to be able to have the same rod? I'll do it, but the new rod will be for sale A.S.A.M.F.P. when I get it...........I guess I'll buy a Shimano, at least they stand behind them and will get it to me within 3 days. Any advice or recommendations?
Buy Grandt.
That works for me Wags. I broke a rod on a fish and got my replacement for the $25 shipping. Jim says I could always return it at on of the winter shows and not cost anything to swap it out. I guess it depends on how fast I need and want it.
Since I was really enjoying the C10 rod I didn't want to wait. I also have a Grandt flipping stick, but I mostly use it for frogging in the tough stuff since I tend to pitch more with 7 foot rods than do real flipping.
Wags, do you know the winter show schedule yet? I want to make sure people know where they can try them out and see the variety of models and prices available. Anyone who does contact Grandt, please, please tell them you are a GreatLakesBass.com member. It's of benefit to both of us!
No show schedule has been released yet. But I am sure you wil see tham at Novi.
I have one Kistler and long story short I will never buy another either. It probably took them so long to answer because they were trying to translate it to Chinese since that's where most all of their rods are made now.

That is probably true! I think I will give Grandt a try to see how I like them. I'm in the process of upgrading all of my rods little by little and would like rods from a company that will stand behind them and not stand behind me!! LOL!

Do you guys know anyone that carries Grandt on the west side? Let me know, thanks much!
They are only available online and at the winter shows they make. They will be at the Novi Ultimate Fishing Show in January 2011 for sure. Grand Rapids often conflicts with a large show in another state. We shall see this year.
MadWags is the best one to talk to about what rods for which techniques. BrianB is another person to ask.
