Title: What's the rule when there is a tie for big bass?
Post by: dominater on July 01, 2010, 01:12:58 PM
Was wondering what the rule is when there is a tie for big bass?  From my understanding, FLW splits the money.  Is this pretty common?

From memory, that seems to be the more common way to deal with it.

We measure to see who has the longest flippin stick.  You're welcome Dan.  The only other thing I've seen is big bass breaks big sack ties and big sack breaks big bass ties.

Put them in a livewell and let them battle it out?

Splitting the money sounds about right.

Some circuits use big bass to break total sack ties and they will use total sack to break big bass ties.

Then they split the two places.

i just had to do that... 2 teams weighed one fish at 2.80 ea. No money involved, but it was considered a tie. Big Bass is its own pot, the rest of the bag should have no bearing anyway. Using big bass to tie break the sack weight is fair because the fish being used as the tie-breaker is part of the pot. Doesn't work the other way around.... if 2 teams have the same sized big bass - then they both have the biggest bass and should split the pot 50/50. In the case of more than 1 place of big bass being paid out - both should split total of the 1st and 2nd place prize winnings.

That sounds pretty fair.

Thanks for the replies.  My interpretation was the same as yours; that big bass is a side pot and would be split if there was a tie.
