If Klinger is one of your lakes you need to get there RIGHT NOW. Smallies are a bit spooky but plentiful and large.
Fished Pipestone on the weekend, some very nice green bass all caught on the inside edge.
Diamond smallies as usual a bit tough but did manage to boat a couple 2 1/2's from the east side of the island in 12'. Centipedes on football jigs.
WHY HAVE WE HEARD NOTHING FROM MUSKEGON?
Never been on Klinger or Pipestone. I've heard Pipestone has some big largemouths?
I'm very jealous of you; I've only been able to fish Indiana waters this year thus far. Klinger is an outstanding lake, one of my favorites. Some guy named Fabiszak (I'm sure you know who I'm talking about) caught a 6 pounder there last year during a weeknight tournament on a bed. I wasn't there that night, but saw the picture, what a toad! I'm hoping to get out there in 2 weekends, (small club tourney this weekend at Dukes Bridge), do you think smallies will be on the beds still, or am I going to be too late?
Duke
Yup, Pipestone has some nice largemouth but the water is small. Ramps iffy at best and zero parking. Not trying to drive anyone away it's just that 10 boats will fill the lake pretty good.
Klinger is a favorite of many. Pretty heavy tournament pressure there all summer but always nice fish weighed.
Duke: in 2 weeks I'ld think the break over by the golf course would be a nice spot to be. Good luck.
I won't be getting over that way any time soon. Klinger and Austin have always looked and sounded good, but I've never made it to either yet, and I know they probably have wizened up bass.
I live a block from austin and talk about pressuered bass, gin clear and only 10 feet deep at max. I have had the best days of my life on that lake but about last august ii started having alot of trouble catching fish out there. you can see all kinds of 2 - 4 lb bass but getting them to bite is very tough. very frusterating at times. ive won more money on that lake than anywhere, but since last year been skunked there an embarssing number of times. the last time i was out there " a couple weeks ago " i had noticed a little interest in an extremely fast reaction bite on a 1-. Think ill see if i can make that work next time out. As for Klinger Lake, that is just a little slice of smallie heaven
Shallow crankbaits are pretty awesome this time of year on many lakes.
