Whats goin on guys? new to the forum. ive been keepin up readin on this forum just never signed up and contributed.
i live 5 mins away from kent so i fish it religiously 3-4x a week so i fish it when its awesome and when its slim pickin's like it has been for me the past 2 weeks or so. i know that the weed killer was put down last week so thats the main reason but cant understand why it shuts the fish down?!?
Who has been out there in the last couple weeks? ive been catchin fish but no real size or quantity or pattern... ???

Hi Mcnasty,
Welcome to the forums. Are you fishing from shore or are you out in a boat?
If you're out in a boat, what kind of patterns/structure have you been fishing?
One reason I ask is the fish have gone into a post spawn pattern now, so fishing from shore, I'm only finding smaller fish. my assumption is that they've moved to some of the deeper water and 2ndary points, and just aren't as active as we've been used to for the spawning period.
There are some Kent Lake experts on this board, maybe they'll offer some more information.
Talk to Brian McCarter or Kevin Barrows, they put a whoopin on everyone at the KLBA on Tuesday. Over twelve pounds for a 3 fish limit, Yikes! I have fished two tournaments out there the past 5 days and it isn't real easy out there right now. My advice would be run and gun. I picked up one or two fish in almost every spot i pulled up to, but most of them were 2-2.5 lb fish. The frog bite is just starting. Tuesday we had a few blow ups but i don't think they were actually trying to eat it, they just whacked at it. Yesterday we had a few hook ups but only in one spot we tried, the rest we couldn't even get a blow up. Get you some Nemesis Sickos in KLK color, had a 2 lb fish almost take the rod out of my hand yesterday cause I wasn't paying attention. Hope this helps.
it pretty much full blown post spawn out there right now, which means there are countless patterns and at the same time, no patterns. the fishing changes day to day this time of year. Your best bets for fish would be to find the 'gills. the bass are never far from them this time of year. Junk fishing is what it takes usually, and by that i mean throw everything you go at em. spinnerbaits, topwaters, swimbaits, swimjigs, shallow cranks, sickos, shakey heads, drop shot, jigs, jerks, chatterbaits, whatever you got. we have been catching fish on all of the above. about the only thing i havent thrown out there in the last month is a frog, but that time is fast approaching.
For bigger fish, find some good weeds ( not easy since they just mowed em all down and sprayed ) but they are out there. flip jigs or your favorite critter baits into holes and along the weedline itself.
there are some fishing starting to show up in the summer haunts out on the main lake. best bet to find the offshore junk is to drag a heavy jig or carolina rig out along the river channel.
topwater early and late in the day will always produce if you can find the active fish. dropshots and jigs always work tho depending on the day, one will always work better then the other. shakey head worms have been working very well for us as well as wacky rigged sickos.
dont worry, summer pattern is almost here. then it gets really tough ;D
McCarter himself :-\'
i always fish the NW corner off the deep points and then from there if nothings happening i move on to the west rocky deep end, then around the bridge and almost always pick fish up around there since the blue gill numbers are huge around that area like you said mccarter. 80% of the fish i caught this year have been on a red eye shad (sexy shad--especially smallies) alot of small 12" and unders on liped 6-8ft divers. i realize that this might be a touchy subject for some guys that fish tuesday nights so i wont expect you to offer up specific details.
if anyone is getting out one night and wants someone to fish w let me know! ;D ;D

Hi Guys - I'm new to the website and have just started fishing Kent the last 2 months. Been catching large mouth, pike (30') in the weed beds, but nothing really big on the bass side. I hear this lake can produce some big largemouth/smallmouth and would like to find a partner to fish this lake more consistently. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I don't have a boat, been renting one and using my trolling motor. Went out last week and noticed bass boats fishing the drop off points, but not sure if they had any success.
