My dad and I went to Crockery lake this morning, for the first time ever. I didn't know what to expect, but had heard stories of nice fish there. It was very quiet, and a really pretty lake. Anyways, we launched at 6:30, and headed to the northwest side of the lake. I chunked a spinnerbait for about 40 minutes with no results. So, I tied on a Lucky Craft 78 SP in the chartreuse shad color, and after 3 casts, I boated a 5lb 4oz large mouth. HOLY CRAP! Later I switched to a Bandit 100 series square billed crank in the baby bass color, and boated 4 more between 2 and 3 pounds, and 3 of them that might have been 4 ounces. I was in total shock of the 5 pounder.
Nice Fish!!!!
That's funny thing about Crockery, it holds some big fish, that's for sure and it has a lot of fish in it for a little lake. Some days they just won't bite! Thankfully for you this wasn't one of those days.

Dang Mike, awesome fish !!!! You need to have more confidence in yourself !!! I know you're in Muskegon, so where is Crockery??
Crockery is in Ravenna, MI. About 30 minutes from my house in Muskegon. It's only 5 minutes from work, though. Guess I'll be dragging the boat to work once in a while.
Which direction from Muskegon Mike??
east and south
Hmmmm IC Mike, you ever fish Fremont?? I've been on it a couple times.
Nope, I've never been on Fremont. Up until this year, I have mainly stuck to Muskegon, White, Mona, and Bear lakes here. I fished Portage several years ago, but that's about it. I decided that I was going to try a bunch of new water this year, because I am starting to get bored. I just picked up another boat last night, which is a BIG upgrade from the Bass Tracker, so I should be able to have alot more fun.
congrats on the boat !!!! let's see pics !!!!
