Any of you folks running a Power Pole on your boat? I bought one and I have been impressed with it. You will be shocked at how often these pricey anchors come into play.

Oh in case your interested here's the mounting.

Every pro on the Elite Series trail has two. The pros I talked to said they would get rid of their jack plate before they would forgo power poles. Supposedly the two are about the same in price. Pros really like them. My Day 1 pro on Guntersville had his power pole go down (pump shorted out) during the night and he wondered what the heck. He had to run all day with the covers on it to hold the pole together. There is a power pole tech at the ramp, but they couldn't fix it until he got back that afternoon. Fortunately, he was fishing deep water and didn't need it.
I love to fish shallow. If it ever works out, I would try one or two on the boat. If they made one that went 18 feet deep, it would be super useful on even our clear deeper fishing places in the early and maybe late season. Wonder if it would be possible to make one that goes deeper. Maybe a 3 part pole? Much more convenient than pulling an anchor in and out anyway. Especially for a bass boat.
I am just mounting one up on mine this week. My normal partner has one on his and at times they are fantastic, other times, I wish it was a 10' and not an 8' unit. The 8' is a little misleading in that it really does not work in water much more than 7'.
I imagine like an anchor their holding power depends on the bottom type and strength of wind.
