Title: Boat Scam - Please Read!
Post by: djkimmel on May 22, 2010, 11:48:21 PM
Please be aware that there is currently an ad on Craig's List that lists a boat for sale at D&R Sports Center.  In the ad, it instructs you to wire money to an account, then pick up the boat at D&R.

THIS IS A SCAM!

D&R does not have this boat in inventory and we did not place this ad.  D&R may occasionally use Craig's List to sell a boat, but we will NEVER ask that you send payment without first seeing and inspecting the boat.

Please forward this email to your friends and family so they are aware.  Feel free to contact D & R Sports Center (http://www.dandrsports.com) if you have any questions.

This probably seems like a no brainer yet I used to work with someone who's relative was running around the country selling cars that didn't exist, yet he made thousands from people who would give him the cash first before he was finally arrested and sent away.

I don't blame D & R Sports for putting out the word that they are not involved with this ad.

Dan do you have any info on the boat that they are trying to sell? I ask because my friend Steve was looking at a boat on Craig's List that we determined was a scam.

The seller did not mention D&R, but claimed that it was being held at a "third party" warehouse location for delivery.

It looks like they may have pulled the ad.

No more specifics on this one. I supposedly specifically stated the bat was for sale by D & R Sports.
