Title: Rico's??????
Post by: TCook on February 12, 2010, 11:35:15 AM
I am a topwater junky and the popper is my go to. So I have had my eye on some Rico's this winter but the price tag is steep compared to the other poppers I use. My question is are they worth the money if so please explain why. Do they have any colors that stand out and what size do you prefer? In what conditions have you found that they will outfish other poppers and why?

I like them because they are a tad bit smaller, sit in the water well, and will walk some. Also being smaller, you can move them more in a shorter distance. Just have always been my favorite topwater lure. Always fished with feathers tied to the trebles.

I been using the G-splash 80s for bigger poppers and they will walk the dog very well. When I want a smaller popper I use the S8's, just wondered if the rico's can out produce the other baits and in what conditions to justify dropping $20-$21 on them?

Hahaha what about the oscar mayer dogs they might be cheaper? Do you think they would work just as well or do the bass only eat kosher?

I don't know if they still make the Rio Rico, that's the bigger one. They fish pretty nice for a big popper, I use them a lot when you can see fish feeding on the surface. With the size, the casting distance and accuracy of the big plug can put a lot more fish in the boat.

Anything named Rico can't be made in the USA, I'd pass.  Now that Lucky Craft stuff, that's some good stuff there!!
