Just throwing this out to see what kind of response I get. After the DK open, who would be interested in a cookout? Tentative thoughts of mine are: I will furnish the meat and buns, maybe burgers and dogs, everyone can bring a dish to pass. I will make sure there are enough coolers to keep everything cool while we fish. I'll end my tournament a little early and get things started. After weigh-in, it should be ready. Dan is going to check with the people at the launch to make sure if we can do it there, or if we have to move. Just want to see how many would be interested in something like this. Any questions or ideas? We have 3 months to plan.

Sounds like a good excuse for me to make it to my first DK open
I'll bring extra LOL
FOOD !!!!! I'm in ..... lol
I don't see why it can't happen. They used to grill and serve hot dogs after the NBAA Double Barrel tournaments. They would hold the weigh-ins down in the corner by the DNR station, and set out the food and condiments for the anglers.
We used the grassy area for a cookout after the Big Ten Tournament and I think it went pretty well. Lots of food left over though. I'm sure they won't mind.
Sounds like a great idea.
i'm hungry!! :o
Sounds good... ;D
Maybe we could have a Sheepshead boil! I hear they taste like chicken! :D

You'll need Shaner for sure now, he's the "Sheephead King!" Everytime I see the man on the water he's cruising around with one on his back deck... ;D
Well, being a tiny little fella and all, I'm not real interested in food. But, since Don and I are coming together and he says it sounds like a great idea, I guess I'm kinda obligated to stay and partake a little bit anyways.
should not take to long since there won't be a line up at the tanks. I will bring chips and salsa. If anyone happens to catch a walleye I will bring egg and cracker crumbs. never tried sheephead
My dad took a sheephead home and cooked it. Then, he threw it away because he just couldn't bring himself to eat it. What a waste of time. I'm up for a cookout. Let me know what I could bring. Just remember, I'm driving a long ways, so suggest something that will be good when I get there. Oh, and I can't cook worth a crap!
Mike, you arent going hungry. Someone in that family knows how to cook. Ask your wife to fix us something. LOL
I will bring potato chips.
Typically many of the guys go out to Rams Horn or something...but not everyone usually makes it. So I think this is a great idea. Where could we do it? Metro Beach? Only problem with that is having to pay to get in. Can we do it on the grounds at Harley? I think there's a picnic area??
These spots should work. I have been to weighin's at a couple

Only way you will get any kind of food out of my wife, is if there is an Applebee's near by! Just kidding. Any fast food joint will do!

parking, we need to either cook out at the ramp or find someplace we can park a bunch of trucks & trucks w/boats in tow. i don't really want to take parking spaces away form other fishermen at the ramp waiting to launch there boats, but a cook out is a great idea. count me in for a case of beer to go with the food. we need to send out a scout to find us a spot to bbq. does any one know if we can meet at freedom hill?

Usually that time of year Harley Ensign is practically empty....Most guys launch out of the Clinton river launch.....We could all move our rigs close to the gate after launch and that would give more space to the other fisherman closer to the ramp....
I have never seen parking there become an issue until the pleasure boaters start hitting the lake....Of course if we run into a string of really nice weather all bets could be off.....
The Metro Beach big parking lot would probably be the best bet...Freedom hill could be touch and go..They have enough local issues with that facility...If Harley is going to be an issue maybe we should just launch out of Metro. That way if the weather is rough guys with small boats can stay right there and slam the LM...Just a thought...
I'm going to have to start planning food soon. I need a head count so I can buy meat and buns. Also need an idea what people are bringing. Whos in? We have 40 people fishing so far.
Sounds good to me too... :

Mike you shouldn't have to take the brunt of buying the Meat....We will work something out....
I can also come in early to do the cooking....I get plenty of LSC fishing time so it won't be a burden on me at all...I will just need a Co that doesn't mind coming in early...
I should be able to bring one Gas Grill also...We may need at least one more...
I also have a small 10x10 EZ up shelter...We could at least throw that up to cover a picnic table and the food for serving in case of rain..
Thanks Brian, that will be a big help. I will have my big charcoal grill. I dont mind doing the meat. The neighbor has a couple dogs that bark too much.LOL seriously, I just consider my donation to the site. It wont be that much. I just really need a head count. Thanks again. Also, what does everyone else want to bring?
I would be glad to bring a dessert :)
Yum Yum. I can eat some dessert
I can bring some pop and beer.
If anyone wants some good stuff I can swing by the Dearborn Ham & Sausage Co., their dogs and kielbasa are mighty good vittles! Case on, no casing, dinner franks, red hots, etc...
And no, I'm not knocking any/many of the other local goods.
I'd love to sample some of the very fine local beers (Stroh's comes to mind!) but don't dare tow a boat thru downtown on a Saturday after a few of those!
I will bring cookies and brownies.
Is alcohol allowed at the MDNR ramp? Maybe just pop?
Yeh I would probably leave the BEER at home.
But bring some BROWN POPS for sure! ;D
And those Brownies could be enlightening as well.
If anyone needs a place to crash let me know.
I am bringing this incredible mixed case of beer on ice regardless, and a 12 pack of sodas to the cause.
(and some cole slaaawwww and a methiolade senko) lol !!
Dan, Don't forget to pair me up with a Local that doesn't mind coming in a little early......I get plenty of LSC time so I don't mind coming in and getting the grills fired up etc..etc.....
Ok, heres what I have so far. Sounds like we will be drinking more than eating lol
Dartag: Chips and salsa/ cookies and brownies
Vince: Potato chips
Bob O: Beer
Motocross: Grill and help (thanks)
Marya: Dessert
Team Houston: Pop and Beer
Mojo: Beer
MIBasskid: condiments
djkimmel: plates and silverware
Anyone bringing anything else?
Update: Not going to make it.
I think I can scrape up some serving utensils (plates. knives forks)
;D ;D
lol !! I was just kidding on the cole slawwwwwwwwwwww. Couple ppl prolly got the joke. Oh I will bring two bags of ice too.
Gotchya, no cole slaw. Darn, I love the stuff. LOL
I can bring ketchup, and mustard.
I'll bring some potato salad!
Note to self - I need to call on the alcohol to see if we can have it at Harley Ensign.
Mikesmiph, I will help you with some money for the meat. What about cheese?
Guys bringing Pops or Adult Beverages make sure you bring some coolers.....I will bring mine but it may be loaded down with other stuff......
I am bringing burgers, dogs, buns and cheese. My big charcoal grill, and one very big cooler with all the meat in it. I may bring an extra cooler.
I can bring some chips like doritos or something.
Awesome Mark, thanks. Veronica loves Doritos lol
you want me to bring a head or two a lettuce ? Can someone grab some 'maters ?
Sounding better all the time. Lettuce, tomato, maybe some onion.
You did say cheese. Right...??
wow Dan the way you talk about cheese makes me think you're part cheesehead.
Lots and lots of cheese, Dan.
I'm riding over with LGMOUTH and a couple other guys. I don't know if they're staying for food or not, Mike. If so, I'm in, but I can't say for sure.
Mike, I got a couple of those Tin Foil roasting pans to throw the meat in so it stays warm after it gets pulled from the grill.........I will bring my grill tools...
Groovy. I'm hungry already.
I'll bring some taco salad made with "venison burger!" :)
This is going to be a feast.
Durand Dan wont be able to make it. Can someone get the paper products? We will need paper plates, napkins, plastic utensils for up to 50 people. WOW this is going to be awesome. MikeSZR800, I'm with you bud, cant sleep a wink.
Hey Mike, I can take care of the paper products. I'll have the plates, plastic "Silverware" and napkins. Jeff
Thanks Jeff. Got you down.
I was going to cover that, but I will split the cost with you FF Jeff. You probably have a better memory than me and can be trusted. ;D
According to the nice lady at Algonac State Park we can have alcohol on the Harley Ensign property. Just remember I have a small liability limit on my business insurance and we want to have good fun please. Thanks.

Mike Smiph - go ahead and label up who is bringing what - and add a few lines of what else you need so IF ppl are so kind they can pitch in for plates - plastic ware - napkins etc ...
and cheese! Don't forget the cheese!!
Hey Dan, you keep your half of the money for the paper goods. It wasn't that much and put it towards the donuts !!!!!!!!! I'll be partaking. I'll try to bring a gallon of milk also.
