Title: Sunday the 29th
Post by: mikesmiph on November 24, 2009, 09:23:44 AM
Supposed to be mid 40's. Gonna head out, maybe last time this year. Any suggestions anyone? Anywhere in the state, I need a strong finish to the year.

If you want to finish strong which I am going to interpret that as catching a lot of fish as well as quality fish, then the hot pond is the place to go.  Water temps will probably be in the 60's there.  That is the only place I can think of where the potential for a 50 fish day is possible as well as some of those being quality fish.  However, weather will be a factor.

I can think of a lot better places than the hot pond for numbers and size.  And you don't have to look far ;D

We're (the misses last trip of the year) going to be around the mouth of the river, either just barely SW of the Livingston Channel or down around the Detroit River Light.  I've got a white Champion with green pins if you're in the area.

We fished the hot pond again on Sat
Big fish was 4 1/2 and had 10 over 4# with 30 to 40 in 2/12 to 3#

Water temp was 69 in the morning and 74 in the afternoon

We threw big plastic
shaky head jigs with ribbon tails or senko's (5" and 6" and a trimed up 7")
The best bite for us was in the rocks in 8-9' FOW

What didn't work for us was
Only one on a Paca Craw, nothing on tubes or a drop shot

Never been to the Hot Pond I live kinda close too.  Guess I am going to have to give it a try.  Nice looking fish,  well that one has the black spot thing going on.  But I don't think it hurts them.

If you launch out of Bolles
Run past the first bouy before you head north
It's very shallow

I'd run past the last bouy and then when you go towards the opening stay in the middle otherwise its REALLY shallow and stay on pad.

is this the entrance to the Hot Pond.  Is there shore access to it.

got to get there one of these days before i put the boat away.

I remember someone saw a bunch of Bald Eagles there also.  would love to shoot some photos of them.
