Title: More questions from the rookie
Post by: mikesmiph on November 24, 2009, 08:26:52 AM
Topic this time: trolling motors.  I am looking to replace my old worn out TM. I'm assuming that if I go to a 24volt motor, I have to add a battery. What about the wiring? Do I need to replace the wiring all the way to the bow? What are the advantages of a 24 volt? Time of use? Power? Anything else? Thanks for all the help in the past, and the future.

Yep, two 12v batteries and 12 to 16 gauge stranded wire. The wire you have now is probaly suffiecent. Just check the jacket for size

More power to hold in wind and current, longer run time. I have a 36v and would not go back to anything smaller!
