Title: rookie needs help
Post by: mikesmiph on October 06, 2009, 07:29:34 AM
I dont have all the big money to invest in my boat, yet. But give me time. In the meantime, I need some help please. I have an older Matrix 25 mounted on my boat. I mounted everything myself, and followed instructions. It shows the bottom very well, shows the thermals, and bottom structure. Works very good at speed too. The problem I'm having is, it has never shown me a fish. Has a fish alarm, and fish ID. I have never seen one single fish on the screen. Am I doing something wrong? or is this something that was inherent in the older models? I'll try to upgrade next season, but for now, I'm stuck with what I have. Anyone out there have experience with this model? Thanks   Mike

Do you have the Fish ID On or Off? You may need to adjust the angle of the transducer if it is mounted on the transom so that it shows arches or fish better. You may also have to play with the Sensitivity and the Fish Sensitivity, if ID is On. If you are seeing all that other stuff then it sounds like the transducer angle may be off.

Thanks for the info. Fish ID is on, sensitivities are set on high right now. I'll try adjusting the trans, and see if that helps. Dan, you are too funny. You know there are a couple in there.

I never use Fish ID, bc it doesnt delinate fish from brush piles (which show up as a school of fish). I've also noticed w/ Fish ID off you can pick up small archs which wont be displayed w/ fish ID on..
