And lots of weeds!!
good weeds are the one thing i know how to catch... ;D ;D
I just talked to a local today who said that was the best place he fished this year. Got one "big" bass and a bunch of pike. Sorry I don't have any better info.
No smallies in Canadian Lakes. It's a private man made lake/canal system pretty full of big and dumb bass. It's nothing but huge rich people houses surrounding it mostly. Steve, you will look like a hero taking someone fishing there. I'm about 15 minutes away from there. They had a big die off a few years ago, but it is still better than anywhere else you will fish this year, I bet.
Eric we probably drove by your house. we stopped in GR and saw the kid then took a wrong turn in Morley and toured the back roads until we got there..
that lake is full of small pike. the magic bait they used was a #3 Mepps. I took a jig rod and a bunch of jigs i made last week. once they got tired of catching pike i got them to take me to some shallow pads. you are right about the dumb bass. i caught a bunch of 2-3 pound bass in the pads. that was the most fish i have ever caught on a jig. I tied a jig on for them but the 8lb line they use is a little weak for jig fishing. they all went golfing so the wife and i went out. she drove the pontoon and i fished. we were in one bay and she counted 55 pontoons tied up there. i lost a big one in there. kind of hard to dock fish with a pontoon boat. would have been fun to have my boat with a trolling motor.
it was great to get away and explore new water.
