Title: Torch/Elk/Skeg or Grand Traverse Bay?
Post by: bshaner on September 01, 2009, 04:41:06 PM
I'm going up to Traverse City and taking my dad fishing for the weekend.  I know absolutely nothing about any of these lakes other than when I was a small child my dad used to take me out there.  So I'd like to return the favor.

If you had your choice of Torch/Elk/Skeg or GTB, which would you fish this weekend?

What are the smallies doing right now up there?

You know the drill, any tips appreciated.

Anyone worried their precious secrets might be compromised by posting them need not worry, I rarely fish up there and never tournaments.  Shoot me a PM.

If the weather is cool, skeg is a quick check - fish the wood with jigs and crankbaits right in front of the ramp.  Also check the river holes.  Skeg can be check in an hour real easy.

GTB - tournaments are yielding 16-18 pounds on drop shot in 25 feet of water on breaks that come close to shore - east arm about half way up (not sure of names or anything)

Sorry - not real specific.  Just general areas for you.  'm heading there in a couple of weeks, so if you get some good info while you are up there, let me know.

Have a fun and safe trip!
