I am going to take the first walleye jigging trip of the year this Satuerday morning. I am going to launch out of erie metropark. For any of you who havent done this before it is alot of fun, even though this early in the season you wont catch alot of fish you have a great chance at one over 10 pounds. If any of you are out you cant miss me as i have a billboard on the side of my boat with the GLB logo's. Come up and say hello and through me a beer.
Are you jigging the river or Erie. I only catch walleye by mistake unless its through the ice. Hit them hard in a Saginaw Bay tournament on spinnerbaits.
My plan is to jig in the river. There is a place in front of horse island that is labeled by the walleye guys as the cottages were I plan to start. There is a big FLW event going on this weekend so the area up by the edison stacks will be bow to stern boats and I get to crazy when I am in a crowd so I will fish down river a little further. The fish seem to stage here before moving up to the spawning beds. I have had pretty good success this early in the season at this spot. You just have to pay attention to the electronics and stay on the little edges of the break lines. I just hope the south wind we are having today and tonight dies down alittle or it will be real rough in that area.
