I need some advise.....
I am looking into the purchase of a used boat. I had the compression check done on the motor (2006 Optimax 200 HP) and it came back as follows:
(1)- 120 (2)- 115 (3)- 120 (4)- 125 (5)- 115 (6)- 120
The variance looks pretty good, but they seem a little high (I thought the ideal was between 90 and 110).
Do you think there is anything to be worried about? If so what could it be?
Also, the download indicated there were only 36.5 hours on the motor.
Thanks in advance.
I think the numbers look pretty good. Did you have a mechanic run the history on the motor..??
BS ;)
I hadn't requested that information yet. Never bought a used boat/motor before. What would I be looking for or what will it tell me?
The history will tell you what has been done to the motor, if anything, since it was new. Any repairs or warranty work, parts replaced.....etc...etc.....
Have a mechanic check it over.......they know what to look for. I have not heard of any problems with the newer Opti's. If it checks out with the mechanic....and the price is right.....you should be fine.
Make sure you check out the boat too!!
Good Luck!
