Title: Thank heaven...
Post by: Lightningboy on May 11, 2009, 12:43:21 PM
...I'm not bank trash anymore!

Took her out for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon at Belleville.  Sounded great, felt solid, ran like a scalded dog.

I had broken my upper mounts on Erie last fall.  Total damages included the adapter plate, upper solid mounts, shift shaft, plus the needed gaskets.

While I had her apart, I decided to refinish the L/U; it was looking pretty sad.  I sanded the skeg and bullet down to bare metal, and used PC7 for a filler on the low spots.  Now the skeg is flat on the starboard, and slightly convex on the port side.  It should act like an airplane wing profile, to counteract the steering torque.

Man it felt good to hear that Merc howl again...
