Title: Kent Lake Report - April 25
Post by: SethV on April 25, 2009, 06:56:41 PM
With the last minute call to move from St Clair to Kent, I must admit I was a bit disapointed that we could not get on LSC.  But with that muddy water, it was a good call.  I talked to a guy that did go out there today, but he did not do well - he caught 7 with nothing over 2 lbs.

Over on Kent, we had a great day!  Caught 33 (32 LM, 1 SM).   ;D ;D ;D Biggest was 4 lbs.  All fish on lippless cranks.  Best color was black & gold.  Silver & green was also pretty good.  Put the boat on the trailer right before the sky opened up.

It was a great day on the water!

Seth

Jason and I struggled on Kent. I wanted to go under 96 to the dam but could not because of construction. I did manage to get a couple nice largies with the biggest being about 3.5lbs. Also caught a pike. All on Mepps Spinner. Lost a nice fish on crank but did not get to see it.
After w got back home and had something to eat we decided to put the boat in LSC because we noticed the wind had layed down and the weather channel showed a break for a few hours. Guys we slayed giant smallies on cranks in about 8ft of water. I will post a toad here in a few minutes after we down load it from the camera.

Well, it was a pretty good day for Brad and I!  We caught maybe 20 LM, 1 SM, 1 perch and a 15lb Carp.  So it was a pretty good multi species day.  I did catch my PB while we were out there.  I don't have a weight or a length, but I do know it's the biggest that I've ever had on my line and in the boat.  I'm guessing it was 6 (not sure if I want to reach to 7 or not).  I'll let you guys judge that.  Here are a couple...

You guys had a great day!  It was tough with the wind and dingy water (for us).  Nice job on the personal best.  Too bad you didn't get a length or weight.  If I had to guess, I'd say it is 20" or so, and in the 5lb range.   Put a sack of 5 of those together, and you'd earn a check for sure.

That's a 5+ pound fish all day long.  It would have been nice if we would have swung one or more of those in the boat on Saturday (but, Steve's a jinx...lol).

I know but unless it looks to be 6 to 7lbs we just quick relese them this time of year. We catch these fives regularly in the spring and like to get them right back in the water without too much delay.
