I just returned from Cabelas. The Motor i just finished re-building fired up and purred like a kitten.... Just a small water issue to deal with.... man do I feel better ;D Just thought I would drop in to let someone know..... I'm thinking about staying around Belleville for the weekend to make sure things go smooth on the water. I want to be ready for the DK open...

Congrats on getting the motor done!
Make sure you break it in right! The first 10 hours will influence how well it holds up over the next 1000 hours.
That's great news Don! Unfortunately the break-in period is really boring after the first hour. It does help you get a good idea about how the boat handles though.
If you don't have the manual you can download it here: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/service/viewmanuals/viewmanuals.aspx?ls=outboard
If Saint Clair isn't too rough it might not be a bad place to get through the 2-10 hour time.
Congratulations!
Good for you!! I love to see a guy get his boat up and runnin'
Way to go Don!
No stopping him now! ;D

You have to add Skip Johnson to the Team. We will rock the DK!
I read the subject line and was going to come in to recommend a good doctor who could give a shot and clear that right up...but then I saw it was his motor. ;D
Don,
Glad to hear you got the motor going! enjoy the boat!
Well it figures The first day i can fish and I get sick.... oh well crappy wind anyway....
You should have been on St. Clair today after the wind died. It was AWESOME!!!!!

Im In ;)
Excellent! Everybody above is right on the money; make sure to follow the break-in instructions exactly.
I wish I could say the same for me. Box full of small parts and gaskets came today. Of course, no powerhead gasket. At least I can get the midsection together while I'm waiting. Got bored and decided to refinish the L/U. Gonna keep it black primer. Easy to touch up scratches, and I heard it was faster than gloss. ;D
Speakin' of such things, after your break in is done bring your "skeeter" team to Belleville. We'll go for a run or three... 8)
