Title: Skunked
Post by: Firefighter Jeff on April 18, 2009, 08:58:38 PM
I got a chance to briefly meet Skeeterman190 and then fish out on Lake Michigan (Indiana waters) with Tcook (Tim) yesterday.  It says something about the guy you are fishing with when someone turns off the smallie switch, you catch zero bass and you still have an enjoyable time fishing.  I'll definitly give Tim another chance to show me one of his "Honey Holes"  lolol

Jeff, I must say I feel bad. Thought I could get you on some serious smallmouth and wouldnt you know it they get lockjaw on us. Although it was a pleasure to fish with you and we will have to give it another try soon, probably for some largies they are more dependable. I know alot of guys struggled out there friday, we must have seen 40 bass boats come through the area we were fishing and seen one dink cought. Out of everyone we talked too one boat had two for the day. First skunk of the year but was still a good time fishing with Jeff.  ;D

It was a tough time of it and the new little "hole in the wall" isnt making it any easier. theres tons of boats out there that have never seen that place. The fish are still there but arent really willing to bite. we got like 8 that day we seen u guys and only 2 came from the usual spots. Dont blame it on your guide.. hes only got his info from another knucklehead..me.. i had to make a phone call or 2 to get on something.. its a tricky place to fish.It took 19 to win there on saturday and 18 on sunday. my contact took 2nd and 1st.. guess its good to have friends in low places? haha i went to Michigan City and got a decent bag on Sunday. well my partner did guess they didnt like my G3 tube??all i could get were bucketheads.

Dang Phil,  It would have been wonderful to catch 8 fish.  lolol  Guess you found a few cooperative fish huh???  Oh I don't blame the guide.  He felt bad enough.  I told him I've been there done that, on being skunked before. I'm sure that won't be the last time either.  It must be nice to pick up the fish phone and call for some help on the water.  lol

Yeah u wont find a nicer guy than Tim.. he told me he felt bad about the skunk. plus the night before we couldnt keep the 3lbers off the hook? thats fishing for ya. Ahh the fish phone... yeah it was more of a little more prefish for him as he had to pick up his kid and didnt have enough time to practice on some stuff. he called me first.. to see if i was out there.( i was hiding in that 210 champ) i want that boat so bad! maybe next time we'll all hook up and go out.

You guys are in luck, i'm prototyping a 4' 1.375" dock rod. Its made from 3/8" rebar with split grips, fuji reel seat and SiC guides...... should be the ticket :D :D :D

right now i only have 2 4' rods available, one has Barbie on it and the other has Batman, take your pick!

I would actually pay the $$ just to see that. Probably even bring it with for a BFL, that would be priceless to see how my boater would react to a 4' rebar rod. Might not be good exposure for the palehorse name though.
