Title: Lakeville Lake
Post by: dartag on April 13, 2009, 04:11:37 PM
had friday off so i went to look around Lakeville.  fun being on a lake i have never been on.  people told me there were lots of stumps.  they were right,  i idled most of the time or used the trolling motor.  one large bay is full of stumps and wood.  looked like a down south lake.  I was crusing along and a Loon surfaced right next to me.  got a couple nice photos. I went in a bay after he left and it was full of minnows.  looking forward to fishing there this summer.
anyone know if there are any smallmouth in there.

Lakeville has no smallmouth to speak of.  I have never caught anything there except big bucketmouths and pike.

That lake is full of hammerhandle pike....I can't keep them off from my bass lures...I have seen some large crappie come out of there also....It is a really nice lake to fish during the week when there isn't any boat traffic....

Yep, no SM but plenty of pike. I have caught some huge crappie out of that lake. Timing is everything on Lakeville and the once the people who live on the lake see you catch some crappie on the lake, they will pound them. I wish I knew someone who lived around there, so I could get the latest info. That's a a long drive. for me from Oak Park. Don't throw any Luckycraft on this lake or it will be pike food.

I live 15 min from there and fish it 3= times a month.  No smallies but lots of midsize pike.  Lot of good size bass as well.  Had A big bass spit my mattlures bluegill next to the boat.  Couldn't believe that there were bass that big in there.

Is this how you caught them or are you just guessing?!?!?  And I thought the only place you fished was Kent.
