Title: Lake Michigan
Post by: skeeterman190 on April 10, 2009, 12:08:21 AM
Well guys its official i got the first trip out to the big pond today with TCook. (Tim) we stroked them good. Each of us had 23 by ourselves and an almost 26 lb bag combined. Tim kept sayin darn another 4lb12 oz as he weighed them thats not gonna help. I got a 5lb 10  and a 5lb 2 (which initially i thought was bigger) he weighed 5.9 when i put him in the well?? guess he had a few dump accidents along the way as it was the first one we caught. We dialed into something totally new too fishing there. it fishes so much differnt than Erie but we used some prime strategy from there to catch them today. Usually its a target fishing deal out there. Rock bluffs or steeel walls. but today we found a nice deal, set up in about 20 ft of water doin a drag and got them. combo of current, some clearer water and warmer water made it work out nicely.

you get a new phone yet?  chris went to hamilton lake last weekend with a couple other guys whos names escape me at the moment.  they didnt do too good.  dont know if he is ready to come back yet.  but we want to come out there and get some footage with you and tim so maybe we can work something out soon.  both of our schedules have been crazy with Nemesis orders, family stuff, and real job stuff.  I would love to get out and fish if i could only find the time.

Nice work on Lake Michigan, tho.

McCarter himself :-\'

wow I bet you guys had some fun. What was the water temp out in the lake? Do the smallies hang out there in the winter? I wish I could get into some smallies out in the lake a little more north.

the lake is much different in the south than in the north. Once you get to New Buffalo rocks, gravel, and other structure is almost non existent. I'm sure you could find something small to hold them with lots of time on the water but from my experience I believe they just roam the depths following bait and don't really relate to anything from South Haven north except the hit or miss piers.
