Post by: skeeterman190 on March 11, 2009, 12:57:47 PM
Fished Maxi again on tuesday the 10th of March. Man what a  nasty day . The weather called for rain all day but highs near 60 so we made a go at it. Tcook and I got there about 8am and fished till about 5:30. it was tough i think in all we landed 12 fish. 5 of those were keepers. 4 on a homemade jig and 1 on a blade bait. the water temps were 41-45. seems to be warming up nicely next week should be real good.-skeeterman-

Man you must be pretty tough! I thought here in Hobart it was a pretty raw day yesterday. I haven't fished Max in a couple of years. My buddy and I use to fish it alot, usually in the fall. There was a "pink" cottage on the east shore that was our "mark". We fished drop off in front of "pink" cottage and always caught a few. One year we couldn't find it---- they painted it! ::) Talked to an old guy years ago that use to wade the east shore. He started just south of where they used to launch that hugh boat in Academy Bay, as soon as ice went out and threw a Rapala. Caught BIG smallmouth.
I fish Stone and Pine, ALOT in spring for gills and redears. Do well.
Tight lines!

Haha not that tough just dumb! Maxi is a tough place to fish and alot of people dont like it. it and wawasee are prolly the hardest to fish in Indiana. and what would you know there the 2 biggest natural lakes here. plus some of the clearest. u really got to look beyond the big picture on that lake and fish what you want to fish! the fish are there. throw out all your book and magazine articles on clear water and cold water. i can justify that. there always shallow there you just have to work for them. the eastside from the academy is awesome spring fishing its nothing but rock and gravel that makes sense.  plus those rocks hold heat.. the lake has made a huge jump in recent years the weeds are here. find those anytime of the year especially now and you have it. they also hold that heat in. the surface may be 43 but i bet its close to 50 in those weed beds-skeeterman-
