FLW touring pro and fellow Karu Lures Pro-Staffer Robert Sherry used his past
experience and a bit of diversity to land 13th place in the past slugfest
in the FLW Series East tournament on Florida's Lake Okeechobee. Amongst a myriad
of big names atop the leader board, Bob hung in there with the best of
them using the knowledge he gained from previously living in Florida for 18 plus years
and a little help from one of his sponsors, Karu Lures.

During the official practice, temperatures barely rose above the 60 degree mark
and the lows would sometimes drop in to the 30's. With the cold weather holding
the fish back from their spawning flats like thoroughbreds at the starting gates.
Bob knew the predicted day one temperature of 80 degrees would make the bass beat fin
to get to their spawning areas. With that anticipation Bob used a toad and a senko
style bait to catch the majority of his fish. But as every good tournament angler knows,
you need to add a little something extra to push toward the top.

To gain that, "little extra something", Bob used the Karu Lures Vibraspin
as he moved from one spawning area to another. The Vibraspin is part spinnerbait
and part chatterbait and while moving through a canal and throwing it over top the two
to four foot break, the Vibraspin produced his biggest fish of the tournament and
anchored a 20 pound 6 ounce limit landing him in 7th place after the day one weigh in.

On Day two the winds picked up and pushed the fish a little deeper making
the fishing a little tougher, dropping Bob out of the top ten weighing in only 10-08.

"It took a little while to figure out they moved out deeper, so I didn't do as well as I hoped," Bob reported
"but the next day I started out there (a little deeper) and was able to stay with them."

On day three Bob made a good push back toward the top with his final catch
weighing in at 16-01 landing him in 10th place at the time he weighed in. With better
than half the field left to cross the stage and the bite getting progressively better
as the day went on, Bob held his position for quite some time before getting bumped out of the spot to fish another day.

"I never lost a fish that would have helped me," he quoted "I had some fish follow my toad up
to the boat that definitely would have put me in there, but it just didn't happen.
Every bite was important... and catching that big girl on the Vibraspin was just as important and catching all of the rest of them, I just needed one more."
