Title: Well, it's not a lure...
Post by: Cheetam on November 08, 2008, 07:35:27 PM
So I figured I'd just post it here.  I've been seeing some sweet looking custom-painted reels and thought I'd give it a go.  This is an old BPS extreme I experimented on.  It's hard to see, but it's a fade from pearl purple (bottom) to pearl turqouise (middle) to pearl blue (top).  I shot it with my airbrush and topped it off with Dick Nite's.

kind of early for Cabin Feaver isn't it??

if you used red it could be a Spiderman theme.

I have a bunch of Half Senkos you can paint...

keep up the good work.

Are those reels metal or plastic?  What kind of paint do you use?

Cheetam, you and thedude should shoudl talk.  He loves to paint to those reels too.  I think he has them in 3 different colors.

Cy- Those reels were aluminum frames with graphite side plates.  I used the same  and topcoat I use on my baits (Createx paints and Dick Nites lure coat).  I think my next reel is going to be a flaming pink curado (I hear thedude is looking for one  :D).

You know, I may just change my user name from jcheetam to Mr. Fancy Pants.  I know McCarter may be jealous (since he is King Mr. Fancy Pants), but it just has a much better ring to it.   :D

It's photos like that that would keep me from running for public office.  I guess I have to look at replacing the blinds in my house...thanks Steve.

I've been painting with a Badger 100sg (and before that an old 150), but I bought one of the Air Tools PS1000 a month or two ago after reading about them on TU.  The owner of the company gave a discount code to get a deal.  Go to www.buyairbrushes.com.  Add the brush to your cart and put in discount code "bigfish1".  You'll save about 28 bucks off the 1000 and 20 bucks off the 900 (which are the only two brushes - I think - that you can buy with the discount).  It looks like if you buy before 12/31 you get .99 cent shipping as well.  So far I have only used my brush for about 4 hours, but it is pretty good.  Especially for the money.  He throws in an air hose (at least for me and most of the other people who bought from him) which is nice since the air tools brush doesn't use a 1/8" hose at the brush like some (my badgers for instance).

I've been painting like crazy the past few days.  The PS1000 is a pretty nice brush, especially for the money.  I would probably go with the PS900 if I had to do it again, only because I don't really use the different size cups that come with the 1000.  I will be posting some of the new stuff I have painted the past couple days shortly...

No prob.  I thought it was a good deal.  With the extra money you saved, you can buy extra paint and a can of Dick Nite's.
